Chassis:
Built halfway through the 1991 season, this car was allocated to Nelson Piquet for the final races of the year. He retired with the car at its Hungarian Grand Prix debut but then managed to clinch a fifth place, points scoring finish in the Portuguese Grand Prix. Piquet ended the season and his career on a high with a fourth place finish in a rain-shortened Japanese Grand Prix. Updated to 'B' specifications, it was then raced by Martin Brundle in the opening round of the 1992 World Championship, where he retired with a clutch failure. For the next two rounds B191-06 was entrusted to Michael Schumacher, who promptly qualified third in Mexico and then managed to score his very first podium finish. He repeated that third place finish in the subsequent Brazilian Grand Prix. The car was then retired from contemporary racing and in more recent years was part of the stable of a prominent American collector. The car holds the distinction of being the last Grand Prix car raced in anger by Nelson Piquet and also of being the first car driven to a podium finish by Michael Schumacher.
