Chassis:
Like many of the 100S Austin Healeys, this example was sold new to the United States. In 1966, it was discovered by the current owner, a 17-year old high school student at the time, on a Colorado Saab dealer's used car lot. At that time, it was fitted with a Corvette V8 engine instead of the original four-cylinder unit. Over the next decades, the owner received many offers on the car but he never caved and finally decided to have the car restored by Australian specialists Marsh Classics in 2003. It was fitted with a correct specification four-cylinder engine to bring it back to its original configuration. Since then, it has returned to the road but was only very rarely seen in public. Chassis 3610 has now been consigned to the January 2017, Bonhams Scottsdale sale.
