Following its show duties, which included appearances at the Paris, New York and Turin Motor Shows, the one-off Dino Speciale returned to the Pininafarina studio. When Le Mans organisers, the Automobile Club de l'Ouest (ACO) paid a touching hommage to Jean-Baptitste 'Pinin' Farina the day after he died in 1967, Sergio Pininfarina decided that the ACO should have a permanent memento of his father in their museum collection. In this light, he decided, with the agreement of Enzo Ferrari, to donate the unique Dino Speciale as it was particularly dear to his father. The car stood out in the collection as it was not only among the most beautiful cars on display, it was also one of very few non competition cars in the collection. During their 50-year ownership, the ACO have regularly loaned the cars for special displays including during the 2013 Geneva Motor Show for the launch of the Ferrari Sergio, which was a tribute to Sergio Pininfarina. Still untouched and in as new condition, this particularly striking show car has now been consigned, with no reserve, to Artcurial's Retromobile sale, undoubtedly to make room for more Le Mans winners in the collection.
