Chassis:
The featured Zagato Spider is one of the earliest 8Cs produced, which was used by the works team in 1931. It is likely that this was one of the two cars raced during the Targa Florio that season. It was sold shortly after to Scuderia Ferrari and actually raced by Enzo himself in his very last competitive event. The car was sold again before the end of the season and changed hands several times in the following years, while it continued to be raced in various events. By 1935 the car was sold to the United Kingdom, where it remained for decades to come. Among its subsequent owners was marque expert and restorer Paul Grist as well as collector Nick Mason of Pink Floyd fame. In impeccable condition, this early 8C 2300 is currently owned by an American, who raced it at the 2005 Monterey Historic Races. It was later also shown at Pebble Beach.
