Chassis:
This Monza was built new for Swedish privateer racer Per Wiktor Widengren. Painted in the Swedish racing colours of blue with a yellow stripe, it was raced with considerable success in Scandavia. Widengren used the car both on paved circuits and ice tracks. He also made several outings in events on the European continent. In 1935 the body was modified to a single seater layout and as on many Works cars, the engine was bored to 2.6 litre. At this time the livery also changed slightly with three off-white stripes replacing the single yellow band.
After many years of successful service, Widengren finally sold the car in the summer of 1936. The subsequent owner continued to campaign the car. The car stayed in Sweden until the mid-1980s. By that time it had already been restored once and used extensively in historic events. The new custodian had it restored again by Piet Roelofs in The Netherlands. Chassis 2211077 was returned to the second livery used by Widengren with the three white stripes. The current owner acquired the car during the 1990s and regularly uses it in historic events. He is seen here during the 2007 Goodwood Revival Meeting.
