Chassis:
Completed early in 1959, chassis 0766TR was the first of five 250 TR59s constructed to compete in that season's World Championship. In the hands of Phil Hill and Olivier Gendebien, it scored a debut victory during the Sebring 12 Hours. In the remainder of the season, no more victories were scored and at the end of the year, the car was sold to Luigi Chinetti. Under the NART banner, it placed second at Le Mans in 1960, piloted by Ricardo Rodriguez and Andre Pilette. The 250 TR59 was then briefly owned and raced by Hap Sharp, who quickly sold it on to Bob Hurt. He continued to campaign the car until 1963 in select races.
In the following decade the Testa Rossa remained in American ownership with noted historian and collector Joel Finn among its custodians. It was then sold to Swiss collector Albert Obrist, who had it completely restored by Fantuzzi. Due to financial problems, he was forced to sell his entire collection to Bernie Ecclestone, who only retained the single seaters. The Sebring winning 250 TR59 was eventually acquired by an American enthusiast, who has since regularly raced and displayed this very valuable machine. In 2009, the car was reunited with the other three surviving examples for the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance.
