Chassis: M16A/2
Chassis M16A/2 was allocated to Peter Revson for the 1971 Indy 500. He used the car with great effect during qualifying, setting by far the fastest time. He shared the front row with Mark Donohue in the Penske entered sister car and Al Unser in one of the Eagles. Ahead of the start Donohue and Unser tricked Revson by slowing down and accelerating together. As a result of the confusion, Revson entered the first corner in third. Struggling with the car's handling, he had to settle for second behind Al Unser's brother Bobby in a Coyote.
