Following the success of the Harrington coupe bodied Alpines, Sunbeam sent a partly finished Tiger for the British coach builder to re-body. Shortly after it was completed Chrysler bought the company and all new projects were halted including the Tiger Coupe. It disappeared shortly after it was completed in 1965 and did not resurface until 1982. After a thorough restoration it toured all major concours d'elegances collecting prizes at almost every appearance. In the 2005 RM Monterey Sports and Classic Cars Auction it was offered for the first time.
The unique Tiger Harrington Coupe is seen here at the RM Auction where it changed hands for $82,500, which was considerably less than the pre-auction estimate of $140,000 - $160,000.
