Chassis:
Originally clothed by Chapron, this long wheelbase D8-85 was modified after the War by Robert Clabot, who had been trained by Saoutchik. The commissioner of both the first coachwork and the subsequent modifications was an Algerian doctor by the name of Imbert. Clabot's 'tweaks' provided the decade old car with a fresh design and its owner virtually a new car at a time when these were very difficult to come by. Imbert sold the Clabot Roadster in 1950 and it subsequently spent many decades in the Netherlands where it was displayed in the Deventer 'Automobiel Museum'.
Subsequently passing through the hands of auctioneer Jeffrey Pattinson, it eventually ended up in the United States in 2004. Here it was comprehensively restored by Brian Joseph's Classic and Exotic Service. The work was ready in time for the 2005 Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance where Delage was one of the featured marques.
