Gutless wonder |

i would have to agree on the comment made about the weak engine, i remember watching a documentry about this car and someone had stated that it was a sporty race car with italian design, real sporty with its 120 hp engine along with its body made this a slow car, even in back to the future the engine noises were edited in after, and the front looks real 80S, if i had and part in the design of this car obviosly it would have put in a performance engine with atleast 200-300 horsepower |
You can make this car good easily |

Just put new wheels, new exhaust pipes, and a good turbo in this car and take off those wings on the back window and this car would be good, as well as unique. Any car with those doors and twin exhausts is the perfect base for a good, uniqur car. If you just spend a little money on it, it can be made to suit. |
DMC Rules! |

Som people has claimed that the Delorean is a poor car simply because it has a poor engine. I absolutely agree to this, and i can't understand why the engineers choose such a boring engine. Even an 80ies 4-cylinder Volvo engine with Turbo would have been a better option in my opinion. But I think this car deserves credit for its unique and clever design. I'd rather drive this car than, say, a Dodge Charger as someone suggested on this page. There is plenty of cars on the market with huge engines, but way to few that are really good-looking. |
Most unique car ever |

"I just bought a 1981 Delorean and am quite impressed with its design. Its design, especially with the stainless steel exterior coupled with the gullwing doors, make it the most unique car ever. As for the engine, it is OK; not all that powerful, but long-lasting as it is the same type of engine found in the VW's Eurovan. I've heard that there are nearly 600 registered Deloreans in the world. Is this true? The Delorean is a great showman; I always get steady looks from passerby's when I'm out cruising on the freeway. It's a shame that the Delorean is now seen as simply a failure; its reputation ruined solely based on the actions of John Delorean. Hopefully, this car will make a dramatic comeback and prove to the world that this car can gain the respect and class it deserves." |
Very Cool |

The DeLorean is no Corvette, but it has my vote as one of the most timeless cars of the '80. It's still five times as cool as a '82 BMW or a '82 Mercedes. With a modern powerplant and modern styling it would be one real good contender even today! |
stainless steel beast |

The Delorean DMC 12 isnt very fast, but it has my vote as one of the best cars built. It has a brilliant design which is so original and smart. |
By Giugiaro, but... |
Outlaw 2-1-2003 |
"The original nose design by Giugiaro was replaced by the stub nose with 4 headlights, apparently because it gave the impression of a more rugged car ...needless to say Giugiaro was anything but pleased seeing his work modified. Anyway the car has some charm, maybe due to the role it played in the ""back to the future"" saga, but some styling cues like the rare gullwing doors the side windows and the brushed naked stainless steel body make it recognizable and a nice view for a change, pity for the underpowered engine.""" |
The DeLorean is an overall great car! |

To all the people that rip the car apart for having 130 horsepower or say DeLorean was just trying to get rich. DeLorean was already a millionaire to start, as you don't name a car after yourself without $$. DeLorean left his $650,000 a year job at GM IN 1972-73. As for the DMC-12, the car had 130hp from a 2.8L V-6 and a Corvette weighed more and had a 170hp V-8. The car was designed by Italdesign, very futuristic when you consider a 1978 Porsche or Nissan. The Delorean was designed to be a 25 year car, and most have survived, even past the jokes. Oh and the coccaine, any person that spent 8 years on a project and millions of dollars, would attempt anything to make $30 million when your investors were not giving it to you. The true 2 cents. |
undeniable love |

as homely and powerless as this vehicle is, you gotta love it. the stainless steel, the gullwing doors, its just one of those undeniable loves! |
Terrible |
Jimothy_Jebus 4-12-2002 |
This is easily the worst car ever. What they were thinking when they built this car is beyond me. The v6 barely had enough power to move this car encased in stainless steel. ANYONE who ownes one of these cars sell it. then get yourself a charger or something worthwile |
