Amid the events of the Mondial de l'Automobil 2002 in Paris, a cooperation agreement was signed today at the Audi stand with the organising committee of Dubai 2003. The terms of this agreement state that AUDI AG will make 250 new Audi A8 saloon cars available to the host of the 58th Annual Meetings of the Boards of Governors of the World Bank Group and International Monetary Fund in Dubai in September 2003. These were used to chauffeur the top representatives of both organisations and 184 central banks.Audis cooperation with Dubai 2003 involves the largest number of A8 saloons ever to be used at an international event. |

the a8 has gone through a complete makeover. the older a8 was often ignored as luxury saloon because it looked too simple .But now this new a8 is ready to take on the likes of the s class, 7 series & phaeton.i love its new look, very bold & stylish.i was looking at its rear when i realised that its rear has a slight resemble the murcielago. the trunk it flat from the sides & curved sideway outwards & its lights , all have a small resemblence to the murc's rear. i first found the interior boring until i sat in it myself. Ipressed a button & a part of the wood trim slided smoothly away & out came the lcd screen but unfortunately the radio turned on in full blast.i learned my lesson of being too nosy & i also leardned that the a8 costs around 230k dirhams ,which is a bit more than the new 5 series.The A8 was used for the transportation of delegates during the meeting of IMF & the world bank here in dubai in october 2003. |

i drove this one last wednesday 18 june 2003 to its limit on the A31 Autobahn in Germany,doing 270 km/h on the clock. the only fear i had then were the other traffic contenders who would't see me soon enough. the car felt very secure.even in the rain. i guess thanks to its 4-wd.and its great brakes. for a while i followed a porsche 996 carrera on a 'Landstrasse'near Lingen, BRD. using the manuel flippers on the steering wheel i actually managed to follow this 996. what a geat car, this new a8. just one thing. the car is a bit too high on its wheels.looks a bit cross country. i'm very looking forward to the a8 W12, the A8 TDI and of couse the S8. Perhaps even an RS8 will be built. |

Very nice. The new A8 would guarantee be a stunner to the mercedes s-class and the new BMW 7 series. I heard audi is going to built their own i-drive but nothing has been said about it yet. The 4.2l V8 will be in the Volkswagen Pheaton. The car looks much better compared to the old A8. Brilliant!!! |

I know that the new A4 looks great and i like it a lot even if it is very reminiscent of the A6, but it doew look different in some places of course. But I just dont know if going for the same basic design with the head and taillights is the right thing. I liked having three different designs but they still had a resemblence. When the A4 still had the pinched rear and the A6 had the rounded head and taillights and the A8 had that old and a little boxy but luxurious look to it. Im sure that the ride and comfort will be very refined which is what you can expect from Audi. The engine looks pretty good on the stat sheets and this car should be a very strong competitor in the luxury car niche. |

Autocar Magazine road tested the new RS6 which is supposedly limited to 155mph but they exceeded that and his 174mph when it was limited, when it wasnt limited it is said to hit 190mph (305kph) and also the phaeton is limited to 155mph but exceeded that limiter by a fair bit aswell, dont fret about the limiter, the speed is still there |
