I'll be the first to admit that I like the Taurus SHO. It's a game-changer for Ford, especially Ford Australia who are looking at killing off the locally made Falcon in exchange for the Taurus. As a performance car, the SHO has serious promise as a replacement for the F6. The F6 Typhoon churns out 413bhp compared to the 365bhp of the SHO and the Aussie is a much lighter and more agile car. For me, the current Typhoon is the best car you can buy in a Ford showroom anywhere in the world at the moment.

The Taurus does look like a Toyota Camry from certain angles though - especially that roofline and the bluff front and rear ends. Like most American products, I'm not a fan of the ride height or the cushy tyre profile. In order for the SHO to be a direct replacement for the F6 'Phoon, it needs some work, but it might go down nicely as an G6E Turbo over here...

The current F6 is about 200kg lighter than the SHO. It is only in RWD. The F6 also has about 40 more kw than the SHO and 90NM more torque.

If you want to compare the Taurus SHO to another car in the ford lineup, I dont know about the current Mondeo, but I can tell you that the F6 Typhoon makes 400 hp and 400 ft-lbs, about 40 more than the SHO, and has RWD, not sure if AWD is available on the Typhoon, so it is a bit lighter. Also I believe the SHO is based on a front-biased AWD system, not a rear-biased one, and thus would be more likely to understeer than a rear-biased one would (rear biased would be with the power going to the center diff then to the front and the rear, front biased goes to the front then to the center then the rear.) Note here however that the Mitsubishi Evo has always been a front biased AWD system and the car has always handled better than the rear biased Subaru system, although suspension dynamics have a part in that as well. Anyway, Taurus is good but once again the Austrailians and europeans have drool-worthy cars too, but for once the ones sold here are pretty drool-worthy too.
 Ford Family?

Looks to me like it shares a 'family' appearance like the current Mondeo and Falcon. Wonder how it compares to both?
