Thanks for the correction, I just assumed that it was the BF engine, just as the XR8 has the old GT engine. |
Engine output. |

Its not actually the BF spec 302kw engine. As the spec sheet reads, the engine shares the dual exhaust, twin throttle body intake and basically everything else the 315kw GT engine has. The only difference is, like the 290kw XR8 motor, this is rev limited to 6000rpm whilst the 315kw GT engine makes peak power at 6500rpm. The hint is also that it makes the same peak torque as the 315kw GT. Its only an ECU flash away from being a full GT engine. Pity its still got the standard XR8 brakes. |
Its an older engine. |

S.O.S, to clear the air. The BA and BF FPV GT Falcon (03-07) had a 290kw 5.4L V8 (called 290 BOSS). FPV brought out a Cobra Special Edition to commemorate the 30th anniversary of the XC Cobra Falcon from 1975. The Cobra had a 302kw 5.4L V8 (called 302 BOSS), which was just an update on the 290 BOSS. The FG FPV GT Falcon got another update to 315kw (called 315 BOSS I think). The new FG FPV GS Falcon has the 302 BOSS engine from the BF Cobra. The FG XR8 has got the 290 BOSS from the BF GT. The idea behind the GS is for people who want an FPV V8 but can't afford a GT. Essentially it fits in between the XR8 and GT. |

It's the 5.4lt v8. The 302 is 302kw of power. It's a strange one, this fg has 302kw, yet the others in the range are 315kw ?. |

Wes.Coleman, 302 in this case is referring to the power output, which is 302kw or roughly 400hp. This has the 5.4L V8. Also it's the Holden Commodore SS, the VXR8 is the name or the rebadged Vauxhall. |
A little confused... |

Does this have the 5.0 liter "cammer" engine or the 5.4 liter engine. The spoiler is marked with the "302" insignia, which is 5.0 liters (roughly) in cubic inches. Regardless, I wish we had one of these in America. With the demise of the Pontiac G8 (the Holden VXR8 Down Under) all we have in the way of V8 rear-drive super sedans is the Dodge Charger (yuck!). Not that I'll probably buy either for the next decade or so (student loans, graduate school, etc.) :( |
