I think the 'vette is long overdue for a complete design change, not that there is anything unappealling with the current body, but this basic shape has been around since 1982, sure its had a few curves accentuated but its basic shape is the same.

Time to bring in something new and exciting that isn't hidden under the hood

    I'm thinking mid-engine

Look on motor trend magazine: The front looks too much like an NSX! Coincidence? I think not!

i don't know about mid-engine because the XLR uses the same chassis as the C6, and it's front engined.

Hmm... I definately don't agree with you here. If they were going to come out with a new mid-engined sports car, I think they would/should make it a new model. There's a certain amount of history that I think should be kept. Just like they should never make a front-engined front-wheel-drive Porsche 911

I see your point, but originally the Corvette competed with the Thunderbird for sales, I think its safe to say that evolution or even Revolution is a beautiful thing as long as it moves forward.

Corvettes already command a price that is out of reach for most people, I say take it to the next level - mid-engine, all-wheel drive, carbon-fibre, even consider more than 8 cylinders (Supercharged V8 ???) ... then again, keep the Corvette as currently configured, but lower the price to make it more accessible for the masses and as you suggested a new model .... they gotta get something to compete with the new Ford GT.
