    Cabriolet automatic roof

Just wondering, do the roofs open using electrical power or using hydraulics ?

I believe its a series of electric motors and electric actuators that move the roof and open the trunk.

the use of hydralics would be way too expansive and complex , also weigh the car down loads and the engine would have to come with keeping the hydralic pump going all the time as well as powering the car

    motors are best!

(been awhile since i last posted, hope im still remembered )
i know that soft top roofs move by using some two motors which are then geared up to slowly move, position, and then fold the roof under the boot.
or at least thats what it is in the s2000 last time i looked.
electrics are by far the best method if theres a (reasonably) lightweight roof. Since the speed of the moving roof doesnt really matter, its easy to convert the motors initial speed into force.

electric roofs are interesting, the magazine road and track timed about 7 convertibles to see how fast their roofs could go up (all automatic) and i think it was a porsche that came out on top. i think it was the carrera that could move it's roof at speeds up to 30khms pretty inpressive......
