Does Opel share platforms with Toyota?
Because the Manta looks like a TA22, and the Speedster reminds me of the MR-S.

I dunno about the Manta but the Speedster shares a platform with the Lotus.
I don't think that's correct. Speedster=Vauxhall not Lotus.Originally Posted by NSXType-R

I think you misunderstood what NSXTypeR said. The Speedster (or VX220 for us Brits) is made by Vauxhall, but shares a platform with the Lotus Elise. I think Lotus Engineers helped develop the Vauxhall too....
Porsche!
Ok, I didn't know Lotus helped develop the Speedster.

Then don't assume too much.Originally Posted by PerfAdv
Since Speedster shares platform with Elise and Toyota made Elise's engine, there's a connection, but not the kind of connection you're looking for.

lotus developed the Speedsters Chassis... it doesn't share anything with the Elise, i think...

Oh contrare, mon frere, a quick Google and random articles hint at them sharing body work and even being built in the same factory.

^^ Sure?
The Elise looks different....Wouldnt it be built separate with the Exige?
The Speedster and VX220...well theyre just kinda the same. :P
All about the t-tops
The Speedster and the Elise are one and the same. The Speedster is just packaged diffenetly. The new Turbo version is different though. Vauxhall/Opel tweaked it themselves.

The Speedster (now going off-production) was actually built at Lotus. I also do think that the basic platform is the same.
Money can't buy you friends, but you do get a better class of enemy.
It uses a similar bonded aluminium chassis, but I'm pretty sure it is slightly bigger in every direction. The car was made at Hethel but I beleive it's now out of production - check out Track and Race Cars this month for the ultimate VX220, gorgeous GT style leather interior and a stonking great V6 race engine in the back. Mmmmm - Q car.
Bump.
I really wanted to know if the Manta and TA22 Celica shared a platform.

That seems to be highly unlikely, when the Manta was in production, it was very unusual for the big companies to share platforms....Originally Posted by ptclaus98

The Opel Speedster was produced by Lotus for General Motors's subsidiary Opel and was also badged as Vauxhall VX220 for the UK market. It was based on the Elise.
