    My Office chair/Skateboard Hybrid

Well .. me and a friend, JB, had a dumb yet amusing idea. We wondered what would happen if we put the wheels off an office chair onto the board of a skateboard. Well today we fulfilled that dream. I began by taking the seat etc off the chair and the trucks and wheels off the skateboard. Using duct tape we attached the board to the wheels .. including the chair raising mechanism and rotation thingy.

Took it for a test drive earlier down a steep recently resurfaced hill. It did not do what it intended to do Take in mind I wasnt laying down on it .. I was standing up (although laying down feels way way faster). The hill we chose had ditches each side .. and I dunno if this is global but our roads are like an arc so the water goes into the ditches. Well I had the first honors

I got some speed up but kept going into the verge until I got the perfect line .. I got a good 5m when it started to rotate .. I was facing backwards!!! Unfortunatley for me it decided to aim for the ditch .. yes, I painfully fell into the ditch head first. My friend JB went down on his belly .. it was pretty funny because he'd fall off at a strange angle. Anyway, got some pics of the board I took earlier .. will get some video up soon of us trying it out .. including me falling into the ditch

    Please use office equipment responsibly

    Eh, its half term

Edit : We also went down the same hill with a pair of un-modified office chairs .. that was quite alot easier.

    Might have something there.
Suggest you get on to 'board manufs right away.
After all every race seat manufacturer is now doign "office" versions.
having held a meeting at Autosport Internationla with everyone siting in full race c/f Cobra seats on 5-feet office bases it was quite funky

Ill find myself a cheap bucket seat on ebay and attach it to the base I have at the moment. Tape 2 seats together so my co-driver has somewhere to sit on the rally stages

Dont think the "Office board" will meet safety regs personally

I think they did it on jackass or sumthing, with a normal office chair...

    Id do it.

I like lying and holding on car roofs at 60mph. On grass of course.

Have you got an old strimmer or lawnmower?
If so hears what i say you do.....

Attach the engine to a base ( wood or somthin) then simply have the chain goin to a larger wheel, sorted.

Funny you should say that .. we had the exact same idea. We were looking on ebay for a 5.5bhp motor .. ended up looking for a 4.5l Rover V8

Could have a little trailer on the back with the V8 .. would that be considered rear engined?
