Ok the guy was pretty stupid to have:

    A. The Gun loaded
    B. The Safety off
    C. Not have it locked up or at least in a safe place where it cannot be disturbed.

However that does not mean he should not have had the right to own a gun (though mabye we should have people take an IQ test before they are allowed to own a firearm LOL!). I myself own 2 guns and in my state many people carry (legally mind you) concealed firearms. Many also keep a pistol in their glovebox. Its sorta scary but most of the people I know own guns are very responsible and use them safely.

Of course allowing stupid people to own guns will allow the theory of natural selection to work like it never has before LOL!!

Here's a hilarious story I heard on the news:

Some 4 year old kid having an argument with his younger brother got his mother's gun and shot his brother in the head.

America: Land of the "free to be a complete farking idiot".

Yep. Keeping loaded guns in your house is right up there with "going to the moon in a tin of beans" and "DIY eye laser surgery with an old CD player" as great ideas go.
    Thanks for all the fish

And take care of those who are stupid enough to associate with them too.

it would have been a kangeroo or wombat

out here you must have a license to own a gun.this license is only given if you are a member of a shooting club.they screen your entire background, for your criominal record and all that kinda stuff.if you go shooting, you are not allowed to take ammo home from the club...

damn, i am glad it is that way...
