    Eclipse or Accord

Im trying to help my friend out who is getting a new car and thought I could help him out. He's debateing over a 2005 Mitsubishi Eclipse GT-S or 2005 Honda Accord LX V6. He's mainly into performance and is going to be doing a little modding to the engine. Realiablility is a big issue to, he doesnt want something thats going to break down every week but both these cars are suppose to be realiable so I dont think he'll have any trouble.

    Honda Accord LX V6

    Curb Weight: 3274 lbs.
    Torque: 212 ft-lbs
    Horsepower: 240 hp
    Drive Type: FWD
    Base Engine Type: V6

    Mitsubishi Eclipse GT-S

    Curb Weight: 3241 lbs.
    Horsepower: 210 hp
    Torque: 205 ft-lbs.
    Drive Type: FWD
    Base Engine Type: V6

So what do you think my buddy should get ? I can't decide, maybe you can.

I'm Guessing this is the American Accord.

Bummer, if they had the European one, i'd go for that.

    But, as it stands, Eclipse.

Or check the Used market to see whats there.

If he is going to be modifying anything, a used car with an expired warranty would probably be better, wouldn't it? As far as those two cars go... I really don't know much about them, but maybe he should broaden his choices.

The accord as long as it is the Coupe, I've seen those running around and their accel is not bad at all, 0-60 I believe is around 5.9 - 6.2

    -It is quicker
-The Eclipse will be replaced in '06 or so
    -IMO More reliable

That's between the 2, but in that price range I would go for a WRX.

    Edit: Added a poll.

I'd go for the Accord for the same reasons as the other people who prefer it. It starts out with a more powerful engine, and it has a more useable interior. I don't care if he's going mainly for performance, you can always appreciate a roomier interior . And also as stated above, the Eclipse is totally new in a year or so, so you could always wait and buy the current generation for a huge discount when dealerships start making room for the new one. There's also the 2005 Mustang, which starts with a 4.0L V6 for only $20,000 and has RWD.

No-so-proud owner of a 1986 Mustang LX with the 2.3L four. Anyone wanna buy it? $500. I'll post some pics and info in the user's rides section soon.

I don't need anything too fancy, just something that can get me to the sun and back in 5 seconds flat.

I wanna see a comparison test between the Saleen SR, Lamborghini Gallardo, Ford GT, and Ferrari Challange Stradale. Anyone wanna help me with that? I already know who'd win, though ;).
