    for me:

    mid-front N/A <12000RPM redline 6.0L W-24
4WD with VCD adjustable from 50/50 to 100% RWD
    7-spd SMG
    ceramic brakes
    carbon fiber whatever...blah blah

all wrapped in a sleek curvy long-bonnet body (think Carrera GT with SLR proportions...or a modernized 275GTB)

oh, and an all suede interior with carbonfiber trim (think CSL)

9 cylinders in a row would make for a very flexible crankshaft, especially at 12 000 RPM.

    -LHD
    -V-12, 5.0L 9,500 Redline
    -650hp
    -750lb-ft
    -wood and english leather interior
    -sleek aston martin-esqe body
-a fully regular manual transmition that you could put in auto mode
    -215MPH
    -0-60=3.5
    -0-100=8
-cabin adjusteable suspension so you could drive as smooth as a limo or as taught as an exige
    -price tag of ~$250,000
    -production of less that 1,000

and it would look like this

oh wait i just described my Schnell CSL V-12
    Attached Images Attached Images
He came dancing across the water
    With his galleons and guns
    Looking for the new world
In that palace in the sun
    On the shore lay Montezuma
With his cocoa leaves and pearls

    point taken...ill forget that V18 and take a W24...something like two W12 put end to end...except i only want a 6.0L, so two small 3.0L W12s...or four tiny 1.5L VR6s
i wonder what that would sound like

OK, ok, maybe my description is too similar to a Bigmac, so here's a few changes:

    1. The engine. Lifted from a current F1 car, added 2 cylinders to make a 3.6 V12. Adapted to road use with a reduced RPM ceiling of 14000 and various longer-lasting materials for items such as pistons etc.. Power 690BHP and 400N.m.

    2. Engine and gearbox mounted longitudanally, forming part of the supporting structure.

    3. Fueltank of 90l located between engine and driver/ passenger cell. Fueltank would be deformable a la F1.

    4. The longitudanal setup of the engine and drivetrain would make for a long wheelbase. Longer than the supercar-standard atleast. I propose a wheelbase of 2750mm be used with only the bare minimum of overhangs front and rear. Current F1 cars have wheelbases in excess of 3000mm on average.

    5. The car would not have conventional doors, but will instead feature an aeronautic-like cockpit. This will ensure the minimum of opening and closing body-sections, further improving tosional rigidity and aiding aerodynamic efficiency.

    6. The highly lightweight powerplant and materials would ensure an extremely lightweight overall package. Adapted target weight: no more than 800KG.

    7. The car would feature a completely flat under-body, with the diffuser the main generator of downforce. This is to ensure the minimal aerodynamic drag in exchange for the maximim downforce. To achieve this, no conventional exhausts would be used, instead featuring two exhaust "chimneys" aft of the driver-cell. To enhance efficiency, these chimneys would form part of the rear-wing and would serve an aerodynamic as well as mechanical purpose.

Furthermore, a V12 is preferred because of the mystique and tradition surrounding the layout. Also, I firmly believe that a straight-six is one of the sweetest, best sounding and efficient layouts in the world (hey, I am a BMW-fan after all!). Add the two together and what do you get? Yep, a V12.

Why do you want such a high redline?
A 6.L V12 is a good combination, it can rev out to 8K if need be and still have heaps of torque form idle.

i wonder what that would sound like
    Needlessly complex?
