Mercedes SL65AMG vs. Mercedes SLR McLaren

The SLR. At last I can buy an ultracar that won't piss me off. I can ride in comfort to an epic soundtrack and know that I have got that engineering to assure me that it will start on a cold morning and get me there with no hesitations.

If you are talking about price try looking at it from another perspective:

The SL65 is probably more than 75% the same as an SL350. The only differences are the engine, gearbox and a few anciliaries.

Yet it costs £85,000 more than the SL350, £50,000 more than the SL55 even.

Talk about a rip off!

With the SLR you get a car that is largely unique, apart from the engine and gearbox.
Most of the other major componentry is unique to the SLR, including things like lubricants and tyres.

you make a good argument there, but the thing is, how often are you going to push the slr to the limits ?? seriously

the sl65 is plenty fast for the road, as is the 55

ill go for Mercedes SL 65 AMG for $179,000, im pretty sure it drives nice and fast,as far as $455 vs SLR??! no thinks..
