    wOOx Technology

    does wOOx tech. in subwoofers actually do anything?

    they says its supposed to make the bass louder than its supposed to, but i cant tell the difference

    do any of you kno?

    its patented by Phillips, too.

    I've got it on my stereo, I don't really notice much of a difference either. Just one of those typical marketing buzz-word things.

    perhaps it just amplifies tones hat cannot be heard with the human ears

    If it's the same as they introduced in their home stereo systems under the woox technology label then it's an additional amplifier stage to increase bass output.
    Most amplifiers do this by filtering which can have a higher loss and distortion than a dedicated amlpifer slope.
    not sure what they did in cars, but back then they talked about having 'tuned' speakers to match the amplifer technology. Putting the marketing buzz aside, what they likely mean is they put a driver in powerful enough to cope with the higher output

    The woox stuff is explained in Philips sales material for their home stereo systems.

    On your normal hi-fi the bass is "turned up" by using an electronic filter.
    THe Philips woox turns it up by adding a special low frequency amplifer.

    my stereo's has it and it makes a shitload of bass. Mine is wOOx 2 and it has these funnyhard plastic subs

    the subwoofer for my system has it written on it , how many watts is yours ? mines 100 W.

    is wOOx2 the new version of it?

    Mines just the portable one, but man its loud! Very good quality sound aswell. The w00x must do something right...

    is that one of the ones with the USB link? those are cool. Mine is 140x2, 3 cd changer, payed $480AUD
