    Does anyone here actually race?

Just curious. I don't. I would, but I simply can't afford it. A neighbour races Porsches. He has sixteen of them (which is just obscene!) but then he's a very wealthy city banker sort of a chap.

I street-race my Skyline once in a while, but I never lose.

But seriously, I don't, simply because I can't at the moment. Go karting once in a while though.

    Yeah Autograss racing,

Classes are from 1 to 10 each class having its own rules and regs, the higher the class the better the car. Class 10's are custom built specials, that have twin bike engines or supercharged v8's they go from 0-60 in 3.0 seconds.

    Something to do on sundays.

Im moving into class 5 next season, 1400cc's with unlimited mods, and rwd.

i used to go race @ the 1/8th mile track, i may enter the import shootouts, whenever i put a turbo on my 240sx:P.

if you count that as racing, if not then am planning on going to a couple of small road tracks around here, whenever i upgrade the suspension/brakes and the cooling system.

Racing does not have to be expensive.
You can race in saloon classes at any local track for about 100 pouinds entry and coudl start out in a race Fiesta or Clio for about 2000 second hand. LoCost have their own race series for their cheap 7-copies !! We really are spoiled for club level racing in the UK
You can do sprints/hill climbs for between 25-50 pounds - it's more you against the track.
Classic and post-historic rallying is one of the cheapest forms of that event with entries as low as 50 pounds for a whoel days rallying and special stages. You can ceompete in anything from £500 Fiats, Minis all the way to £10,000 of Escort or even early 911s.

I'd advise you finding a local car club, going along and askign about what's on locally. Many autotests are run at the weekends and are VERY cheap to enter on the day and cars dont have to be expensive either

All of these are competitive and challenging formulas because they are populated by enthusiasts. I got out of national rallying because it was populated by ruch guys with fast cars not matched by their skills BUT they can still win by spending more on engines, tyres and servicing

I used to do alot of it in the summer with my old car.
But a good friend of mine races his older 911 GT2 (like the PGR2 one;993?) around rarely.
And a local neighbor (who passed away yesterday ) was a BIG Lamborghini collector and racer of his cars.Part of his collection went to his son and the rest was sold.

Nice. Thanks for the replies/advice guys.
Need to do the kitchen before I spend any more money on cars, or my girlfriend will kill me. Once that's out of the way .........

    Niiiice!
How does the licensing work for Lo Cost Racing though? Surely you can't just get a car and go out on the tracks? I thought you had to do a racing license?
