My question is about doors opening upwards like scissor, butterfly or gullwing. As I said they open "up" and this means they can fall down. So, has anyone heard about someone actually injured after being hit by door? And which door type is safest?

Also, when the car flips over, you can't get out.
Thanks for all the fish
When a car flips over the side windows usually break during the roll...
Yeah windows broken=no problem, right?Originally Posted by h00t_h00t
Think again. Missy Elliot for example (who owns a Murcielago) could have some problem getting out through this window.

You think you'd be able to crawl through the window of a Lamborghini Murcielago, after you'd just had an accident big enough to flip the car?
Great minds eh?
Thanks for all the fish
That's exactly what I thought, so broken window doesn't solve anything until you can get the door to open or to push out (or to ram them out if your big enough)Originally Posted by Coventrysucks

On the other hand it is hard to flip something as flat as a Lamborghini (unless it's this ridiculous Lambo SUV )

ROFLMAO! Last year at Goodwood a Murcielago crashed into some bales. The bales landed on the top of the car. If he had conventional doors, he would've been able to get out. But with scissor doors, he was trapped Made me giggle .. after considering his safety, obviously
The doors on the Delorean are renowned for falling down ... wouldnt be as bad with a gullwing though.

driving too fast for the conditionsOriginally Posted by Forever92
it needs something to get the outside tyres during a slide to hit something solid like a kerb or a ditch or a downhill banking. The wheels stop but momentum moves the body OVER the wheels causing it to roll.
A badly setup car can sometimes do it JUST by excessive grip in the tyres relative to suspension compliance.

It's was sorta retorical but yeah... I have a neighbor that took out all 4 tires on a curb. I still don't know how you do that. I had hit a guard rail on a freeway on ramp right after it rained but then later on a sunny day a dumbass in a stang not only hit it but ramped up in and over it. I still don't know how he did that.

no probs, F.
I've spent more events in ditches than I care to remember or own up to. Sometimes on side, sometimes on roof It's surpisingly easy to do Always too much speed for the conditions
Thankfully on track the I've managed to ekep all 4 wheels facing down But not alwasy on the black stuff

Wow, I never thought about a scissor door in a flipover. They should be designed to both pivot up and down aswell as out. Flip it up for show and flip it out to save your life
