    Newey off to Red Bull

Top Formula One designer Adrian Newey is leaving McLaren to become Red Bull’s Chief Technical Officer. The Austrian-owned team confirmed on Tuesday that Newey will take up his new position at the end of February 2006.

Newey is widely regarded as one of the sport’s finest aerodynamicists. After achieving championship success with Williams, he joined McLaren in 1997 and helped bring them the constructors’ title in 1998. His design team was also behind this year’s fastest car, the MP4-20.

Newey was the subject of controversy back in 2001 when he accepted an offer to join Jaguar, the team that ultimately became Red Bull, before deciding to stay on with McLaren after the move had been announced.

He wouldn't stay at McLaren forever, and even though titles don't come since 1999, I think his expertise and value has never been put in doubt. I hope he does a great job at Red Bull, together with David Coulthard.
Would it be possible, to play forever?
The conclusion reached was that a player is inevitably doomed to lose.

2005 is the first season since 1991 that a non Schumacher driven or Newey designed car took the driver's championship ...

He might think that he has bigger chances at Red Bull. I believe Red Bull is a team for the future. They have some big money and by attracting guys like Newey they are making some good steps.

So he finally end up in Jaguar....

Anyhow though, Newey didn't design the McLaren of last 2-3 years now. He over sees their development and made sure it didn't go astray(which may or maynot be the case before 05), but he wasn't the designer...

FYI, 05 was also the first recent Ferrari wasn't designed by Rory Bryne...
