    BF Goodrich in WRC

Today i was looking through the technical specifications of the Ford Focus WRC 06 and I saw that it will be runing BF Goodrich tyres next year. I heard that BF Goodrich were coming into the wrc but I didn't know it would be next year. How do you think they will go?

BF Goodrich ARE Michelin tyres, so I think they'll do just fine.

This is a PR stunt to focus on the use of the Goodrich name in Dakar and Rallying.

Old Michelin press release on it ....
"Starting from 2006, the Michelin Group will pursue its technological and sporting involvement in World Rally Championship with its BF Goodrich Tyres brand.

"This decision strengthens BFGoodrich Tyres' current racing implication in the Rally Raid World Cup, in the Dakar Rally, as well as in numerous Northern-American competitions such as the Score Baja 1000.

"The Michelin Group and Ford have the intention to continue their partnership in WRC for the years to come. BFGoodrich Tyres will bring into this partnership its widespread racing experience and Michelin Group's most up-to-date technology.

"Car racing and motor sports in general form a key element of Michelin Group's strategy.

"Having secured 36 World Rally Championship titles, Michelin brand continues to participate in closed circuit categories: Formula One, MotoGP and Endurance [Le Mans 24 Hours], while BFGoodrich Tyres will spearhead the Group's commitment in Rally Raid [Dakar] and on the World Rally Championship's high variety of grounds."

Since when has BF Goodrich been a Michelin brand of tire? Have they always been part of Michelin?

1990, they bought out the failing Uniroyal Goodrich company.
Just made sure the franco-phobic Americans didnt' find out.
Now they've let the cat out of the bag it might backfire.

BFGoddrich tyres have been known as "Bloody French Goodrich" for quite a while

It's stupid IMHO as Michelin have an excellent reputation for track and rally cars and outside of the US BFGoodrich have a terible rep. The open knowledge of Frenchness may hurt BFG sales in the US in todays climate and the rep of Goodrich outside may also hurt. A kind of lose-lose as far as I can see

^^^It might hurt sales in the US. A couple of years ago if you asked for "French fries" you'd get a frown, they had become potato fries or just fries.

Why just not put it under one name and get it over with?

If I see it correctly there is only Ford, who will start with the BFG tires, or are there more (works)teams? Subaru and Mitsubishi are on Pirelli...

I think when Citröen return they will also be most likely to use BFG tyres. It will also be intresting to see what Kronos and Skoda Will be racing with?
