Suzuki Swift...CAR OF THE YEAR 2005

The Suzuki Swift Hatchback has been voted 2005 WhatCar? of the year.

Not a bad choice in my opinion....At last! A small car with character! Its well put together with a large interior and masses of headroom all for less than £9,400

And the best bit...ITS ACTUALLY FUN TO DRIVE

Check out the pics below, my metallic blue Swift arrived today (Saturday) and I can not fault it, WANT PROOF...I CAN PROVE ITS MINE...Mwahahaha

Ive got the GLX 5-Door top of the range...looking to get a spoiler added soon aswell, got the lovely 16 inch alloy wheels, CD player, Air con, im gonna get a Tomtom 300 Sat Nav system aswell soon.

    What do you think?

This car isn't bad at all, but I thought the Civic was better.

Its your opinion but personally I think the Civic looks boring inside and out despite the face-lift and the steering doesn't feed back enough information to give the driver confidence. It was a good effort from Honda though.

I said I thought, so you should know it's an opinion.

    New suzuki swift

Looking at the swift's competitors the 1.5 liter engine with 102 bhp seems good but it has very little difference in performance from the 1.3 liter which is 150 kilo's lighter (970kg instead of 1125kg due to smaller engine and 3dr)

The 1.3 engine produces 92bhp which is 10 less but take into account the difference in weight and (due to me being as poor as hell) the drop from £8999 to £7499 the 1.3l seems to be the one that should be getting the attention because if you have 7500 to spend on a new car there aren't any rivals within 20bhp except the mitsubushi colt which has 75bhp.

Having driven both the 1.3l is lighter and although the alloy wheels and start button look neat are they worth the money.

Hopefully i'll own one within the month

Oh yeah and as a side note of all the car's ive ever driven - toyota yaris, Passat, cmax (ugh), new mini ,mazda 3... none have enough room for me (being 6'8" and never having room for my legs)

In the suzuki swift i had a problem that i never had in a VW passat which by comparrison is a huge hulk of a car in that i didn't know what to do with my knees because previously theyve been pinned down by plastic
