Yeah a solstice with a LS1 would be awesome. A light 2 seater sports car with more then 400bhp why not. The GTO doesnt do it for me to heavey and such. Now a light solstice with a LS1 whats bad about that?

You all forget that Holden only supply's around 15000-18000 GTO's to Pontiac, They deliver what they can and the original mark of 18000 was not moved back Holden couldn't do that i think it was around 16000 they could send, Plus correct me if I'm wrong but you can only import a max of 18000 cars into the U.S am i right?.
So numbers for the GTO are not all that bad when you think about it.

It's the car that made Jeremy Clarkson fall in love, And that's not easy.

Plus that 2008 GTO pic is the 05 GTO and looks terrible like that.
Just look OZ way for the next Monaro and see what the GTO might look like.

    Anything's possible - I've seen a Ford Y Block jammed into a Morris Minor

But remember the recent Torana concept car by Holden? According to Holden it rode on a unique platform which was similar to Solstice and shared suspension componentry, but had wider platform 'architecture' which did accomodate an LS-1 V8

In interviews I've read, GM-H engineers claimed that an LS1-dimensioned engine was not 'productionable' within existing Solstice architecture size limitations, which is more suited to inline motors & compact V6s

A specialist builder like Mallet might be able to hand-fit any engine to Solstice, including LS2s and LS7s .. but that isn't the question

Can GM do it on a production line? IE: is it feasible for mass production?

    The answer is reportedly No

Since it looks like Holden will build another Monaro then what ever that is expect to see the GTO off that. But this time from the start it will have more aggressive looks.
Think a little Torana Concept maybe?. There is some VE Commodore in that.

Should we expect a new Firebird in the future?
If GTO doesn't work for them, maybe they should try something else.

PS: How exaclty is GM staying afloat?

The current GTO is built off the Holden Monaro
The Monaro has been killed off again.

No it doesnt its 350 at the crank and 400 at the crank if you dont belive me post on ls1tech.com. Hell the new LS7 is 450+ or - whp and thats the 505 C6 z06. The 505hp is at the crank which is loss when going to the rear wheels
