The problem with early Montecarlo wasn't the lack brakes, quite the contrary. They only fitted servo assitance for the front brakes, which (combined with rear biased weight distrbution) meant that early cars were prone to block the front wheels under heavy braking. The revised version introduced in 1980 had the servo removed and bigger barke discs to sort out the problem.Originally Posted by bruxell
By the way the early (there's really no such thing like first or second series) cars were produced from 1975 to 1978, year in which the production was halted. They would only resume prodcution in 1980 with the aforementioned revised version.
