    Camera reccomendations...

I've been looking into getting a new digital camera for when I travel in the next year, and I've been looking into getting something that is as small and easy to carry without sacrificing too much in terms of image quality and manual control etc.

I was looking at the Fuji F10, my friend got one and it seems really good. Could anyone tell me about their experience/knowledge with it or what other cameras that fit my criteria they reccomend. Thanks
i was waiting on a moment, but the moment never came. all the billion other moments, were just slipping all away. i must have been tripping, we're just slipping all away. just ego tripping.

I recommend the Nikon Coolpix series. They are great cameras for the money.

    I myself have a Sony DSC-W7.

I have a Canon Ixus 700, that is small, lightweight and very good in terms of image quality.

Great little cameras but zero manual control.

I have a Minolta A200 which is small enough for a DSLR-type of camera but love the Canon SD300 for it's portability. It's a little bigger than a credit card and uses the Digic II processor for amazing image quality!

    Read about it here.

The Z2 is actually smaller than that, and the Sony T7 is (slightly) smaller still, but the Z2 packs a bit more ( or I ve been told).... it takes better photos in not-so-well-lit places... perfect for student-types such as yours truly!

If you were comparing Z2 against the A200 you are entirely correct. The A200's AF system is inadequate in low light conditions. I've only had the A200 for about 6 months and find it to be a mixed bag. I wouldn't wholeheartedly recommend it. I was suggesting Canon's SD300, as it's no longer the latest and trickest, you can get a great deal on one. And it does take fantastic pics for being a such a mini-cam. It has an AF-assist light something that's missing in the A200. Make sure the Z2 has this feature.

Thanks for the info everyone, I think I've narrowed it down to the Canon Isux/SD or the Fuji F10. I'm still leaning to the Fuji from reviews I've, but does anyone have any firsthand experience with it? Or any of the latest Fuji finepix cameras? Thanks again.

You said in your first post that you wanted manual control. Those cameras offer no manual control. Just FYI
Oh and at higher ISO setting they absolutely suck as far as image quality is concerned.

for a point and shoot, i've got a FujiFilm Finepix S3500. It's pretty good, kinda average for low-light, but pretty good. I think if you step up to the S5000 you get much more manual control. Go to http://www.dpreview.com/ , they have heaps of reviews and info
