The Marmon V16 engine was an 8-liter (491 c.i.) aluminum-block unit developing 200 HP. Cadillac's competing V16 was a 165 HP 7.4-liter (452 c.i.) iron block.
With the backing of General Motors, Cadillac had a far easier time carrying an expensive V16 model than Marmon. They quit building cars in 1933, eventually settling into making trucks.

not mentioned in wouter's text, marmon sixteen was said to be faster than cadillac; it had better power to weight ratio, however duesenberger was even stronger. anyway, cadillac sold ten times more V16 cars than the marmon.
there is also said that the body was designed by WD Teague, which is only partly true because it was done with a help of his son, WD Teague Jr., future American Motors head designer
it was the last model of marmon ever constructed; howard marmon has been making cars since 1902 and the other popular model made by him was marmon V12.
