Nice car. But i have a question. Is the silvia a model of the skyline. Built on the same platform of something. Just less powerful? Not too up on nissan, so i thought id ask.

I don't think it's the same platform. The Silvia is a 4 banger RWD while the Skyline is 4WD but then again having a different engine and drivetrain doesn't mean it has a different platform. Interesting question.
The Silvia is a complete different platform, I think. I'm pretty sure about that. Its RWD. The Skyline is RWD or 4wd.
The Silvia is a completely different car to the Skyline but has just as long a history and just as much of a following.
I should know, i drive one.
There are many models of Silvias but most commonly they are the S13, S14 and S15 (theyre called 240SX's in the states but they have a diff front end and engine, the crap one from a truck.) the models i mention are from 1988 - 2002.
Theyre powered by the CA18DE, CA18DET, SR20DE or the SR20DET, the CA was only available in the early S13s and was quickly superceded with the SR20. The SR puts down roughly 110kw at the wheels in standard trim. these engine have been worked into excess of 300KW at the wheels though.
They are immensely popular here and overseas as show or drift cars of course people use them in drag and circuit as well. there is huge off the shelf parts to support these model cars.
Tuning shops such as Top Secret and MASA amonst many others use Silvias as their shop cars, representing the best work these shops can do.
What can i say? i love these cars...
Kermit i have a wallpaper sized shot of the car at full lock at the D1 Grand Prix. unfortunately its on my laptop. ill put it up tomorrow.

Do drifter engines get swapped out alot. Since they rev thier engines constantly? With that i would assume the transmition and gears get changed frequently also? Another curious question.
I like the gold Top Secret car.

Not as often as youd think.
Its a fair effort to rip an engine out and rebuild it

Go out and pick up a Performance Auto and Sound Mag, and a Sport Compact mag. Almost every advertisement (there's alot) features this car. It's very popular.
The ability for outward expression is dependent on substance...
Nissan needs to bring this car back. It looks good. Does anyone have any original high res pics?
I found the history of the car here. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nissan_Silvia
Found one on Ebay straight from Japan. It's got a body kit with a big wing on the back. It's riced but the car is fast.

I read that there is a concept of the S16. Anybody have any pics?

Real cars are not FWD.
