Prodrive is a company more usually associated with Subaru World Rally cars, but it's put all of its talents on show in a two-seat sports car.

The P2 sports car uses a Subaru Impreza STi's engine and four-wheel drive system, along with some Prodrive technology.

Prodrive, which is based in Banbury, Oxfordshire, has added its own tweaks to the turbo to avoid the delay in response often found in turbocharged cars.

There's also Prodive's Active Torque Dynamics to split the engine's power most effectively between the front and rear axles.

Thanks to the P2's light weight, it has a power-to-weight ratio of 350bhp per tonne.

The light weight and power sees the P2 go from rest to 62mph in less than four seconds and top 175mph.

Prodrive has modified a Subaru R1 supermini's chassis to accept the STi mechanicals, while the styling has been penned by Brit Peter Stevens.

Inside, the P2 uses the dash and seats from the Impreza.

There are no plans to build the P2 at the moment, but Prodrive says that if a manufacturer was interested in producing the P2, it would have a price tag of around £40,000.
