Two press items caught my attention today.
1) For those of you who don't know, the UK speed camera record is 155mph by a motorcylist in Wales. Sadly, afforementioned motorcyclist fulfilled his 1 year driving ban and has now died in a road accident. Verdict is death by misadventure, as it seems he ran in to the rear of a car on a country lane after losing control - police suspect he was travelling in excess of 100mph...
2) The 21-year-old arrested for driving his dad's Porsche at speeds in excess of 140mph has been acquitted of dangerous driving. Police testified in his favour, saying he only drove at the afforementioned speeds where the road was perfectly straight and visibility was excellent - he significantly slowed for corners and more dangerous stretches of road. He also stopped immediately when the police caught up with him. The judge ruled he had not acted dangerously. He is still in trouble, mind you. He will be prosecuted in a lower court for speeding offences and is sure to get a large fine and a one year ban from driving. But no prison. Lucky boy!
That's all folks.
