    2006 F1 Qualifying Sceme

    Sounds funky:

Here is how it works. For the first 15 minutes all 22 drivers can clock times. The slowest 6 will take up the last 6 positions on the grid and be eliminated from the rest of qualifying. The remaining 16 drivers will have their times deleted and clock times in the next 15 minutes. The slowest 6 of those 16 will take up positions 11 to 16 and not participate in the rest of qualifying. The remaining 10 drivers will use the last 30 minutes to decide the top 10 positions. Got it?

Stop F**king about with F1 ffs!

It was good 15 years ago; loads of teams, loads of drivers, loads of good circuits.

Now after changing the rules every year, there are no teams, too few good driversn crap circuits with the good ones dropped or mutilated in the interests of creating "overtaking".

Well, if they hadn't of f**ked the cars up, they wouldn't need to f**k the tracks up aswell.

    I'm tired of F1's B.S. parade.

Why can't they just get shot of the nannying regulatory bodies and get on with proper racing.
    Thanks for all the fish

^^ Agreed - the constant changing of rules in the interest of reducing costs seems slightly farcical to me!

Having said that, I do rather like the new qually system.

in the interest of an exciting race I would like to propose that the starting grid will be determined by drawing straws. That would likely result in many more overtaking manoeuvres than we are used to know. Particularly Monaco would be "very interesting" and could then may be replaced by a track where you can actually race,

    I think its worse.
15 minutes? With 30 drivers on the track at once...
Sounds like Im complaining over nothing...but I mean in only 15 minutes there can be so many variables...
Although I am not really aquainted with F1, about how long does it take to complete a lap?

I like Henk's method. What an exciting first few laps that would be

Why can't they just give each driver 6Min to do the fastest time or pull a number outta a hat See who goes first to last in the Qualifying order

Coz one minor mechanical problem and there's no time to get back out again. A bit "unfair"

It ensures all the fast guys have to start running from the beginning, no sitting in the garage like the 12-laps system and have more cars on track than the 1 lap system.....I think the fan who is at the track for quali will get more chance to see the cars run in anger...

Which one do you want to go back to ?

Ther eare similarities with varying ones over the yeras.
BUT the wholy new part to this is the eliminating the slower cars from the later time slots. So ostensible the last slot has only a few of the fastest cars trying hteir hardest for pole and none of teh mobile chicanes around to baulk them

To start with, 22 cars trying to get best lap time in 15 minutes, that's going to be almost like a race environment. There is no way of giving anyone an open (clear of cars) track.

I do like the idea of only the fastest remaining competing for top positions, after having throughly earned it.

I like it, in principal. In practice it might be rubbish, but superpole seems to work well in DTM and superbikes (<?)

I'm not sure of this one. At first site it seems ok, but you never know how it will be in real.
