One day I'll have a CSL. Or not...

This has got to be most outrageous waste of time I have ever seen.
    I laughed like crazy.
Notice the high-tech AA stiffening bar!

It's a shame he messed with the "sidepods" and the wing, because without them he would have a neat car. Not astonishing but nice.

He did that to make it look like a real CSL.

What's so bad about that car?
It looks like a very cheap homebuilt racecar, nothing to be ashamed of.

It's shameful because the owner did a very poor job of trying to emulate a very famous and successful racer.

its ugly compared to the Alfa next to it.
I'm dropping out to create a company that starts with motorcycles, then cars, and forty years later signs a legendary Brazilian driver who has a public and expensive feud with his French teammate.

I like the bar, he's obviously fabricated it himself, good on him. He could have gone out and bought a NAME brand that's all aniodized and pretty and pay mega bucks for it or build his own and put the money towards tyres, brakes etc. The front spoiler has incorporated ducting for brakes and a duct in the middle for the oil cooler and downforce. The flares for wider tyres and track which equals better handling. The rear spoiler for downforce. Give me function over form any day. Just because its not pretty doesnt mean its slow or an outrageous waste of time: . If you want pretty cars go to an AutoSalon . By the way the alfa may be PRETTY, but probably very slow round the track

I think he did it to fit bigger tyres and ducting for the rear brakes.: Pfft.

But, the whole point of the whole car was to make something that looked like the original CSL racers. It had the outrageously wide fender flares, the large wing and the monstrous front spoiler. They all looked fantastic on the CSL.

What he has done is take a distant cousin of the street CS or CSL, the Bavaria, and created a slow, awkwardly-proportioned poorly-made copycat of the CSL. And from what McReis told me, it's pathetically slow and a poor performer.

Isn't all that the very definition of rice?

We have a similar class in Australia called sport sedans, these cars have outrageous wings similar to the CSL copy. Would you call these rice aswell. These have between 600-800hp and weigh 1000kg. If your rice definition is homemade big wings, spoiler, airdams etc, I guess these are rice aswell

i always thought rice was more about all show-no go rather than the horrendous-useless details? besides your sport sedan pic cant be called rice because its wheels are too small and it doesnt have enough decals. it has to have the NOS and MOMO ones to qualify in my opinion

No, the parts added to those cars are truly functional and contribute to better performance. Like I said above, the car shown has horrible performance and the additions are solely to make it LOOK like the CSL, not go like one. That's rice. Rice isn't about looks alone. Rice is about looks with no performance gains whatsoever. Rice is about making a car look fast, but not go fast.
