Interesting to see how Kimi, Alonso and Giancarlo were near the bottom in the first session, and in the second were right at the top. As ever, Montoya did it the other way around! Massa seems suprisingly fast, hope he maintains that speed to the actual race.

Well P1's basically turned into a system's check, and P2 i guess to verify the team were right in the "general" setup needed and some tyre work.

Those practice times mean next to nothing really...like preseason performance it all changes during an actual race.

Well, the big news pre-qualifying is that both Ferraris and the Honda of Reubens Barrichello have had to have engine changes so will automatically lose ten places on the grid. Should give a chance for the likes of the WIlliams, BMW, Toyota and Red Bull cars to make it into the top 10 on the grid.

In terms of the knockouts the first session seems to have gone to form, with the Super Aguri, Midland and Torro Rosso cars all dropping out. However the big suprises were probably Schumi only just beating the drop and DC flying up in P3 with the Red Bull. The McLarens have looked pretty devestating so far.

I really hope Kimi can pull off a win and JV can show that he is still a good driver (he's been ahead of Nick all weekend )

Fisichella just pips Button to the pole position, with both drivers seeming in a different class to the rest of the field. Rosberg was an impressive third but nearly 0.8secs slower then pole. Not sure what happened to Alonso, he was nowhere in that final session and will be disappointed with P8.

Schumacher will lose ten places on the grid so it will be an all Williams second row, with Rosberg beating the so-called qualifying expert Webber. This kid looks like the real deal and then some!

Interestingly, the 10th 11th and 12th place cars will all suffer engine penalties so 13th place Trulli will actually move up to 9th with Michael in 10th. I think! Very confusing!

Right, I'm off back to bed!

Wouldnt be surprised at all to see Button and Fisi ultra light. Rosberg-Shuey-Webber ultra close though, will be interesting to see how both Williams handle going through turn one
I dont know how all the drivers taking the penalties will be affected. With how strong the top 5 teams are, they wont be able to breeze through the field.

Schumacher will likely be running heavy - he knew about the 10 spot penalty before the final qualifying session.
Wouldn't be surprised if Alonso and Raikkonen are heavy too. The grid looks a bit mixed up. Should be a good race.
Now just have to avoid the internet until delayed coverage starts on TV at 10.30pm local time - about 5 and a half hours after the start of the race.

Thats a very different grid to normal, should be good to watch. Both Williams and Mclaren team mates on the same rows, nice inter-team fighting!

"The target is to win the race tomorrow because our long run performance looks stronger than anyone's and we were worried about qualifying more than the race," he told ITV Sport.
And although he was outpaced by Rosberg, the Australian only used one set of new tyres whereas the German bolted on a new set at the end so the team could get a sense of his car's ultimate pace.
Williams looking the strongest they have in possibly 18 months...

I think if either Williams win, somewhere thats gunna be happening.

I think alot of people after seeing Raikkonen last weekend will be going veeeery long on their first stint. Wouldnt be surprised if the tyres arent up to it..

Eek, race favourite Raikkonen out on lap one! Seems to have had a coming together with Klien who is also out. Seems Raikkonen's luck is as stinking as ever.

Alonso has had a blinder of a start. If he's as heavy as it's thought he might be then he's gotta be in the box seat for the win. His teammate Fisi seems to be storming ahead, indicating that he's very light.
