hmmmm, not really. It's close enough that handling will be the decider.
    So suspension dynamics and controlalbility.
For the input on that go to Slicks cited article .... http://www.caranddriver.com/article....&page_number=3
"If the Z06 encountered any kind of bump or lump in the pavement as it was exiting a corner, the result was a nearly instantaneous outward snap of the tail."

That comment verges on the moronic.

By the same notion, 1/4 mile times only tell you how quickly you can cover 1/4 mile of straight, flat road from a standing start.

    A useful statistic I'm sure you'll agree
    Thanks for all the fish

That's it, surely a good measure of a car's pace is how well it performs during the maneuvre you perform most often?

Im saying its ABLE to do 0-60 in that time, its been done.

And here In UK people aren't that concerned with 1/4 mile as they dont tell you anything about the handling etc, so yes
And handling is only a fraction of what the car needs to be fast on a track.
    Facts from our own UCP:

    Noble:
With a power to weight ratio of 400bhp per tonne, the Noble M400 is by far the most powerful car in the M12 range, hitting 60mph from standstill in 3.5 seconds and 100mph in just 8.0 seconds. At the heart of the M400 is the same twin-turbocharged 3.0-litre V6 engine found in the standard M12, but thanks to high-lift camshafts, larger turbochargers and revised fuel injection, power has been increased by 21 per cent to 425bhp, while torque is up by 11 per cent to 390lb ft.

Power to weight ratio 0.4 bhp / kg

    Corvette:
The new Z06 achieves 500 horsepower in an approximately 3130-pound (1419.7 kg) package and is expected to deliver 0-60 performance of less than 4 seconds, eclipse the quarter-mile in less than 12 seconds and deliver a top speed of more than 190 mph on a race track.
(for some reason UCP don't have the exact figures and only your site says the 3.4 which was done by an independant Magazine).

Power to weight ratio 0.35 bhp / kg

And power to weight ratio shows that the Z06 would get Pwn3d on a track.
The power to weight isnt off by that much, I personally thought the M12 being much lighter, having more downforce, and being more track focused would be able to take the Z06, but it got clobbered.
Off the same M12 vs Z06 article they have M400 specs, where it gets beat from 60-0 by 30ft, and although it has better power to weight it looses in the 1/4 mile by a whole 9mph. The Z06 may beable to take it on track.

You can tell off the line traction by its 60ft times, and judging by trap speed vs ET also tells you traction.
Its a much better indicator of speed than 50-80mph...

So how is 1/4 mile moronic then, especially over a 50-80mph run...
Ill do a 1/4 mile run for fun much more often then doing a 50-80mph run...

Now the question is, Is the Noble that is sent top america the same as the one that is built and used here????

I think not regs always make Car makers change the car slightly like the CCR XX.

And like your article stated the back end is tail happy so going round a track or whever your in better nick going round a corner in a Noble M400.
TVR, Heres to Peter wheeler and his last creationg of the Scamander.

    Coventry seriously sucks....

Im pretty sure the car isnt changed (being that its sent as a kit car, unlike the CCR).
Yeah, the back end is tail happy, what do you expect with 470ft.lbs on tap?
Either way the Z06 demolished the M12 to my surprise, it may beable to take a M400.

I would still rather get a Ferrari F430GT or a Maserati MC12 if I had the money

I dont believe any of us should count out the new GT500 coming out, it could very much rival the value for money the Z06 has recently given the US market.
