    Lamborghini

    Manufacturer Over view: Lamborghini

Lamborghini is known the world over for manufacturing some of the most expensive and powerful road-going vehicles available. In addition to their high profiles and high performance, these cars are also considered to be among the most dazzling and striking in terms of appearance. Ask any car enthusiast for his list of dream cars and it’s a safe bet that somewhere near the top of his list you’ll find a Lamborghini. Now Test Drive Unlimited allows you to experience the power and style that is Lamborghini. Let's take a look at some of the models being featured in Atari's Massively Open Online Racing (M.O.O.R.) title.

    Gallardo Coupe

The Gallardo began production in 2004 and Lamborghini has manufactured 3,000 of them in the two years since, making the Gallardo the company’s most-produced model to date. The Gallardo features a V-10 engine that produces 500 hp, has a top speed of 192 mph and can go from 0 to 60 in 4.2 seconds.

    Gallardo Roadster

The Gallardo Roadster is a drop-top sibling of the Gallardo Coupe. The Gallardo Roadster features an engine that produces 520 hp, has a top speed of 195 mph and goes from 0 to 60 in 4.3 seconds.

    Gallardo SE

Released in 2005, the Gallardo SE (for Special Edition) improves upon the design and performance of the original Gallardo. The Gallardo SE has a faster top speed of 196 mph and can go from 0 to 60 mph in 4 seconds. Lamborghini plans to produce only 250 units of this special edition car.

    Miura P400SV

The last and most famous of the Miuras, the P400SV features an improved engine that produced 385 hp. The car has a top speed of 179 mph and can go from 0 to 60 mph in 5.5 seconds. 150 of these legendary supercars were produced.

    Murciélago Coupe and Murciélago Roadster

The Murciélago is a GT and supercar that was created as a successor to the Diablo. It features a V-12 engine that produces 580 hp, has a top speed of 205 mph and can go from 0 to 60 mph in 3.8 seconds. The Murciélago comes in two different styles; the Murciélago Coupe and the Murciélago Roadster, which is a convertible.

    Ford

    Manufacturer Overview: Ford

This week we reveal an American icon: Ford.

Ford is an American original. The company revolutionised the way that cars were built, driven and perceived. The list of models that Ford has turned out over the years is as long as the company’s rich history and nearly all models are instantly recognisable to people in America and abroad. Now in Test Drive Unlimited, you have the chance to drive some of America’s most classic, reliable cars through some of Hawaii's most beautiful highways.

    GT

The Ford GT was designed in anticipation of Ford’s centennial year. Designers drew their inspiration from Ford’s classic GT40 race cars of the 1960s, and the two are so similar in style that the GT is sometimes confused for its 1960s counterpart. This is a very high-performance supercar with a supercharged 5.4 litre V-8 engine producing 550 hp and boasting a top speed of more than 200 mph. Relive shades of the 1960s Ford race cars or start your own legacy with the Ford GT and Test Drive Unlimited.

    Mustang Convertible

An American classic, the Ford Mustang is one of the most popular sports cars of all time. This version is a sporty convertible, with a V-6 210 hp engine. This is the redesigned 2005 model of the Mustang, and has the power to ride with most cars out on the highways.

    Mustang GT

This is the slightly more powerful version of the 2005 Mustang, with a 300 hp engine. It drives faster and has a better suspension system for easier handling, perfect for those Mustang fans who want a little more boost when flying through Oahu.

    Mustang GT-R Concept

The Mustang GT-R is a concept car designed as a tribute to the 40th anniversary of the Mustang. The car features Ford Racing’s 440 hp “Cammer” crate engine that can be tuned to produce more than 500 hp. The Mustang GT-R is a racecar by design that can handle the world’s toughest road and street courses. If you’re a fan of Mustangs and Ford Racing, you owe it to yourself to tweak this monster, take it out on the streets of Oahu and show the competition who’s the boss.

    Koenigsegg

    Manufacturer Overview: Koenigsegg

Atari and Eden are pleased to bring you the latest and greatest to hit the streets of Oahu this week with unveiling of Koenigsegg supercars CC8S and CCR.

Founded in 1993, Koenigsegg is a Swedish manufacturer of high-performance cars. Its creator, Christian von Koenigsegg was only 22 years old when he launched this line of cars into the supercar society. Koenigsegg proved to the world that a small and devoted group of car enthusiasts can rival the older and established supercar brands. The two Koenigsegg cars included in Test Drive Unlimited are seriously superb automobiles: one is the fastest legal street car and the other is the fastest road car in the world. What better way to see the beautiful island of Oahu than at top speeds with the top cars?

    CC8S

When it was introduced, the CC8S was the fastest street-legal car in production with a top speed of 240 mph and acceleration from 0 to 60 mph in less than 3.5 seconds. The Koenigsegg developed suspension system has been judged by expert test-drivers to provide better handling than any competing supercar. The CC8S has a supercharged engine that provides 655 hp.

    CCR

Introduced at the 2004 Geneva Auto Show, the CCR just might be the fastest road car in the world with a top speed that can exceed 240 mph. The powerful engine of the CCR produces a maximum output of 806 hp, and the car can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in 3.2 seconds. On February 28th, 2005, the Koenigsegg CCR broke the production road car speed record, achieving a new official top speed of 388 (387.87) km/h at Italy’s Nardo Prototipo proving ground.

    Aston Martin V8 Vantage

First seen at the Geneva Motor Show in 2005, the V8 Vantage is powered by a V8 engine that produces 380 hp. The Vantage can go from 0 to 60 mph in 4.9 seconds, and has a top speed of 175 mph. It's an exhilarating drive on the world's most demanding race circuits, this is a car that will thrill you on the track.

Well obviously, it's just an arcade game. But still I agree that they should've tried to get closer to the feel of other arcade racing games like PGR etc...

I would like to give a heartfelt thank you to the over 200,000 people who downloaded the Test Drive® Unlimited demo through Xbox Live® Marketplace and to the thousands who gave extremely valuable feedback via www.testdriveunlimited.com.

This demo has helped us accomplish two major things:

We wanted to test our servers for the world’s first M.O.O.R. (Massively Open Online Racing) title. In day one we had over 10,000 people on our server racing against one another.

We also wanted to gather your feedback on what you liked and what you thought should be improved. The game is still a work in progress and we have time to improve the product significantly. So we've asked for your opinion and we received extremely helpful responses. We don’t agree with everything that’s been posted but most posts make sense and nearly all issues will be addressed.

A few general points on the feedback:

General bugs: This is a work in progress. 
Map: Some people were wondering why you couldn't un-zoom in the map of the demo. This is because the whole island isn’t in the demo, so we locked the zoom/unzoom feature.
Physics: Some people think they are too arcade, others are saying they are too sim-like and others are saying we are perfect…impossible to please everyone. However, there is a driving aid menu. People that want sim should play with driving aids off while others should use them. Additionally, further tweaking of the physics is ongoing.
Damage: Some car manufacturers don't want their cars being damaged so we can’t have some with and some without. More importantly, this is a unique, massively open game… we don’t want the problem of the 10 year old guy smashing into your brand new Ferrari etc.
Blur: We added a setup menu in the option menu to turn it on or off or tune the amount of blur. Same with the camera shaking effect.
Island graphics: They are evolving all the time. Until the final build, they'll keep being improved.
Controller layout: A few other controller layouts will be available in the final game.

Again, we thank you for your support and are very excited to launch Test Drive Unlimited as a unique and special product.

    All the best,
    Stephen Baer
    US Sr. Brand Manager

P.S. Please be on the look out for an updated demo within the next few months. You can also pre-order the game at select retailers.
Some good news for you guys.

sweet, the gripe i had with handling was that the car seemed independant of your inputs lol, for this kind of game i would prefer they copied the arcade handling off PGR3.
it's cool that you get to race each other on that island though
