this seems to be a common sentiment among a lot of people i hope sony pull their finger out
So, if I buy a Ps3 I can get a system full of non original content with slightly upgraded graphics, all for the low price of $600 bucks? Yeah, that sounds like a great deal.

Note: This is coming from an ex Sony fan.

Sony let down a lot of people this E3. The Ps3 suddenly doesn't look as appealing as it once did. Now its all about the Wii and the 360. 360 for the more standard way of playing games, Wii for the crazy novelty stuff.

BTW, check out this video taken when E3 opened. Notice the massive crowd of people stampeding towards the Nintendo booth while four or five people casually walk to the Sony booth?

Thats only £40 difference, and any external drive scheme for the xbox would undoubtedly cost more than that. So I dont see a massive league difference between them....
The ps3 will be 425 pounds in the UK (lol i dunno how to make the symbol)

Jeez, as predicted, Sony are as well packing up and going home !!!
    http://video.google.com/videoplay?do...320011&q=pc+e3

A seamless gaiming experience from XBox to 150 MILLION PC gamers to BILLIONS of mobile phone gamers.

Whilst Sony have been shouting PS3 technology and numbers ole Uncle Bill has done what he does well ..... wrapping up a disparate bunch of reasonably good solutions into a killer single bundle the comaptition cant' compete with.

Dont' see Sony "online" getting within a stones throw of what they're talking about here. On-line playing with MIXED PC and Xbox and for some games the mobile phone too ( that bits not too clear but certainly possible in the future within that framework as mobile devices get more capable )

( oh and if you waat a REALLY good dig at the PC .... the audio of the E3 demonstration but the video is from someone doing the same actions on TODAYS Mac Priceless http://video.google.com/videoplay?do...91799339834706 )

NO strategy to bring in the 150 million PC gamers or the billions of phone gamers. IF someone wants a "simple console" then the Xbox opens up a much larger "vista" (!) than a PS3 can offer.
MS have rewritten the rules and made it NOT console v console as Sony have taken up the fight, but console v console+PC+mobile

re Sony doing the mobile, they've no VISION for this tho.
Nore for all the other mobile devices out there.
I'm sure Sony will now try to hack some "vision" together.
Even the most novice marketing busienss manager can see the outflanking MS has undertaken ( bwt straigh tout of Ries&Trout ... Sony want to battle head to head, MS have just created a new battlefield elsewhere. Sony will struggle to change their battle plan at such short notice )

What's the point of cross-platform gaming when we get the best controllers on PC such as keyboard+mouse and better wheels?

One day X360 owners will just give up playing with high-end PC owners.

Hey Sony can do cross-platform if they want, PSP+PS3.

Well we know some people are "scared" of computers and for a 6-10 year old a console is probably "better".
With USB controllers of course there is no reason for the Xbox ( or PS3 ) to be lacking
Remember the "vision" MS has is of boxes similar to the Xbox being in everyones room. It's their media player for audio and video it takes TV streams from internet and the house PC TV card. Son one big computer and lots of Xboxes
So cross-platform becomes a "good thing" BUT I concur that in reality it won't be a must-have for most folks ... BUT it falls into the nice-to-have option and so is a winner in the selection stakes over a device that does NOT have it for a similar price !!!

Remember that is MS's strenght ... it's not that they have the best solution BUT htat they PRESENT the best solution and entices buyers with features and capability they don't really need or really care that much about> BUT they get them wanting it

The Inquirer really seems to think the PS3 is going to suck. Yet another story on the supposed dismal performance of the dev-kits...

    http://www.theinquirer.net/?article=32171

    Highlights...

Then came the horrible news, RSX appears to be limited to setting up 275 Million triangles/second, anemic compared to the 500+ million in XBox360. When asked about this apparent thumping dished out by MS, the reply from one notable ISV relations boffin was a terse 'What a Piece of Junk'. Talk about a steak in the heart.
For local memory, the measured vs theoretical bandwidth is missing, I wonder why? RSX is at a solid 22.4GBps for both read and write, good job there green team. Then comes the blue team with Cell. Local memory write is about 4GBps, 40% of the next slowest bandwidth there. Then comes the bomb from hell, the Cell local memory read bandwidth is a stunning 16MBps, note that is a capital M to connote Mega vs a capital G to connote Giga. This is a three order of magnitude oopsie, and it is an oopsie, as Sony put it "(no, this isn't a typo...)".
"In theory, theory and practice are the same. In practice, they are not."
