Fiat must be heading in the right direction. After being out of the Australian market for nearly 20 years, they are coming back in June with the Grande Punto. I'm not saying that to be the best car maker in history you need to sell cars on Oz, but if they can come back to a market or break into a new market, then you must be heading in the right direction.

Passion and style don't necessarily mean speed and excitement. Alfas lately haven't been mind-blowingly fast, but I'd say that they have as much if not more passion and style than any other auto maker. I certainly can't think of a more stylish set of cars. Unfortunatey passion and style aren't enough to sell the amount of cars that Fiat need to move, so they need reliability and some nice engineering also. So in short, they'll get there. And if you can convince everyone to buy an Alfa, they'll get there faster.. shouldn't be too hard, just look at em.

So you bash Fiat on the sole basis of not having a hot version for its new Punto?

Human stupidity never ceases to amaze me...

No i'm bashing Fiat for nearly going under and making lame cars for some decades when they are related to ferrari and alfa romeo. How come piinifirinia? couldn't help out with some design and performance n' stuff.

Cars are a means of transportation. The fact that some companies make cars that are more than that, that are exciting to drive is like a bonus.

Fiat is a very good automaker because they do exactly what they aim to do. They sell economical passenger cars that people need and use in everyday life.

If Fiat solely invested in making theyr cars fast, stylish and enjoyable (as ferrari does) I am quite sure they would make stuning cars.

and for that i do not agree "fiat Sux"

Fiat already developed the Punto for the rally Super1600 class.
Hasn't done well against the competition
They also developed one for the Super2000 class but I've not seen one run or it's results.
It looks nice tho' -- though I may have been swayed by the models in skin tight Fiat lycra

The Super 2000 Punto has won a couple of Italian championship rallyes, and the last European Rally Championship event, in Turkey.

The production Punto Abarth is said to have the Rally car's bodykit, and a 180bhp 1.6-litre turbocharged engine borrowed from the Meriva/Corsa VXR.

Remember that Fiat owns Ferrari, Maserati, Alfa Romeo, and Seat
