    Get real.
Although it isn't "nice" to mock a teacher but what if he is a "plonker"? I mean, if J's statement about him is true and he does walk around asking students their progress even if they aren't his students and the various other antics, why can't students discuss that? The child porn and mail-order brides comments really weaken an otherwise sensible student observation and critique.

For Debate Club in high school we once did a debate of pros and cons of the Principal wearing Green pants. We actually got in trouble for discussing the color of this guys pants. (International school, American Principal, in SE Asia...) So, my point is that "teachers" and others in this Profession shouldn't expect Ming dynasty, oriental-style respect from their students today.

Freedom of speech with responsibility, blablabla, the problem is only some have to practice responsibility. Those in power can disseminate as much misinformation and hate as necessary to meet their ends...

J, if you do end up apologizing, know that you're apologizing for the kiddy porn part.

    The R word is RESPONSIBILITY.

So if someone DOES have a teacher who is really IS a plonker then first they should raise the ethic and class attainment with the teacher tehmself .Calmly quietly explaining expectations and where it's missing the mark ( no pun intended ) .
If that is ignored or doesn't bring about positive change then raise it with the department head - who is their line manager.
Likewise if it STILL wasnt' being addressed ( tho remember it can take months for change to happen and have effect ) then indicate to the line manager you want to raise it with the school head or board of governors.

It's as important a lesson as finding out how to do math
Coz, some day in your job you will have an incompetent team leader or boss and THERE if you dick them about you get fired, no question, no comeback.

So take this as an opportunity to learn a very important life skill -- how to legitimately complain, set expectations and work to have others develop along the path you require

PS: If you have NOT raised this calmy and coherently with the teacher then EVERYTHING of your web post is wrong, not jsut the kiddy porn part. Going behind anyone's back is bad social activity

I love UCP, its not just a place to find out about cars, but learn from seriously level headed people with good nouse. Kudos to you dudes.

Adding to some points raised, going through the teenage years is tough, and people in authority always seem like the evil doers, holding you back. We had a teacher who was always seemed a bit too 'cheery and happy' if you know what I mean, and trying to be a funny-man, I cracked a joke at that one day. Luckily, I didnt get a telling off, or punishment, but the look of disappointment in the teachers eyes was probably one of the most eye opening things ever. I went back and thought long and hard at what Id achieved. It may not be the same situation as yours, but I just thought Id share.

Nice, Matra! Sometimes you have to state the counterpoint POV to get insight like this.

Golden insight, "So take this as an opportunity to learn a very important life skill -- how to legitimately complain, set expectations and work to have others develop along the path you require ". Something I never quite mastered...

I mean what has happened to free speech in such a "free" and "democratic" country such as this one...
Why can i not write what is on my mind, especially when it is all humourous, and has vbery little to do with anyone....plus its on an anonymous website, outside of my school.....

I'm sure if they had asked me nicely, I would have taken it off... but censorship is going too far....
no such thing as free speech in a school environment. well, there is, but it must be respectful and non-intrusive to the learning process. while no students were made to read or disrespect the teacher, they did, and that must have intruded on the learning process.

Last time I had a complete boob as a teacher, I destroyed him, then complained about him. It worked, no comebacks either. He was prescribed steriods for the rest of the time he taught our class.

Generally, if there is someone at work who I have a problem with, I will keep my distance, because I'll end up saying something. There's one at work like that at the moment, we just don't gel.

Admittedly, it's immature, but how much of the stuff on the Internet can you actually take seriously? Have you looked at rotten.com and checkoutthisstupidwebsite.com?! If I saw a page like that, I'd assume it was largely a wry look at the teacher, leaving aside obvious comments about child porn...

I'm with PerfAdV on this one... but I will sympathise with junaman's cause, as I have had my fair share of utter wankers for teachers.

Ah you clearly have studied the GWB diplomacy class in school then.

You are going to get ROASTED when you get a job with that attitude.
See a teacher HAS to teach you .. an employer can kick your ass out any time they chose.

Advise you take the life lesson and grow from it
Or it will get MIGHTY sore ( and poor ) in later life !!

I'm saddened that ANYONE thinks it a "win" to have "destroyed" another human being -- oh wait, that'll be that Tony Blair lesson in the GWB class again

You're confusing workmate and EMPLOYER/BOSS. You can't hide from them like a wean

See ? On one hand you suggest immaturity and not taking web sties seriously ant then 2 sentences later you say it would be a "wry look" .... a lie is a lie however you tart it up
    And THAT is the issue.
Just think in 2-3 years from now you may find a job opportunity in a company where a boss serves on the school board as part of his civic duty. You might be remembered at that point as the kid who thought it OK to defame teachers character ... they'll ask question about how you will react to bosses and the company... you wont get the job.
Bad karma ALWAYS bites your ass.

Yes, my class has talked about this with the teacher, and with our year level coordinator for some time before this website was made... however, that doesn't justify it...

I wouldn't ever start throwing my weight around until I had some serious clout- I'm not totally stupid, just about 37% or so...

My last job (which I left due to untold stress and incompetent managing) I offered a similar attitude. I got accused of stealing a sandwich, which they were about to give me a criminal record for, so I handed in my resignation and laid into them. He could have fired me, but he didn't.

My latest job, I have attendant managers, a few of them, and I can keep out of their way perfectly easily...

I'm not a hothead, but if I do sense something unfair, then I will fight tooth and nail.

Just come back from the meeting.. I got suspended for 2 days (usually it's 5 but we have exams starting on wednesday), which means that i'll have a black mark on my record for five years... also I have to come in on 2 non-school days to help the cleaners or something...
    I think it's a pretty fair punishment....

They also made me identify all the commenters on the site, who they said would be punished.

Do any of you think that it would be fair to punish people commenting on the site??

    What kind of comments?

If they were just like "lol", or that, no they shouldn't.

mainly just enocouragement like: "great site" or "i also have the displeasure of being taught by this teacher"
    others were ""lol"
and a few were hate mail (which however, did not say anything against the site, just against the creators)

    WTF?!?

This seems a little extreme. Gestapo and guilt-through-association come to mind.

Still, know that by you paying a price, so is this "teach". He'll have a much tougher time acting everyone's granny. Maybe, you'll have changed what you disliked about him most after all...

Serve your punishment and move on. A lesson learnt.

"lol" type comments I would hope they only communicate the faults in the use of the web.
Anyone posting further info along the same lines as you I'd expect to get at most half of your punishment.
The problem with education is for some it's about teaching life lessons too
This is one of those for all involved --- reading history shows the guilt by association most Germans felt about Nazis. They should feel a little guilt for associating and praising your efforts
