Well likewise, Ford didnt "transplant" their facilities from Dearborn or Detroit over here. Their Geelong facilities were built by them and date back 81 years. Their Broadmeadow facilities were the same, and are around the 46 year mark. They may not have a previous history here before being Ford, but theyre no less Australian than anything Holden here.

But if you're taking people's opinions on cars in this class from LS1.com.au KOS, you can expect a bit of bias
True it's the first Commodore made from holden ground up.

Yeah with single make forums it's hard to get anything but biased opinions I'm not a fan of the ls1.com myself there are some good people on there but there is plenty of one eyes. But i have come across that in ford forums also but thats a single make forum, You should see the Mitsubishi forum they got it worse they have a ford hate thread it's a joke over there.

None sense the laceti is a quality car see i made a funny....I still think its weird im normaly more anti commadore then anyone else in here and i like this one and hardly anyone else does

And as for the commadore stalwarts they are a royal pain in the arse they dont see anything else on the roads and their more excited by an executive then a fpv GT (and yes some are that bad i used to serve a few like that) and there is no reasoning with them...

Kind of like that max power im arguing with he seems to think every american driver is bad I doubt ill win that one but ill feel better about myself...the scales in some rooms seem to be broken

Ps FPV do you rember who swapped cars in that f1 nascar thing im shure the f1 driver was jpm but i cant rember the yank who drove the f1 car and was within 0.02 of jpms times in 2 laps I woudldent mind that as an example.

At the carpoint site, with the white car, I honestly thought BF Falcon XR.... Then I saw those VY tail lights.... I think the long wheelbase is too big in the rear, it isnt a balanced looking car, But that huge spoiler fixes that problem a little in the white car. I think also it has too much Mitsi in it too... especially in the front. The gold coloured car looks a bit limp to be honest, I wouldnt buy one. The SS? well, I'll wait and see what it looks like in the metal before I cast judgement.

very good the first ford motor company building was erected in 1925 after assembling some 200 model T fords in an ex sheep shed come body builder plant...

Ford was the first established manufatuor in the country and created the coupe utility based on a woman who wanted a versatile car for her husband and so they didnt have to share the cabin with the pigs. Holden didnt build holdens untill the first model (which was flunked buick design) holden instead done fairly well selling chevs, olds, rugby and a few others

And one noteworth point alloytech was already up and running in cadilacs while they where building the plant....only development we had on it was our own version (still even then we tweaked from the us version) still better then the "tick box" way we get the v8s mind you

I'm a holden guy in cars because since i have drove the commodores have been great to me and i have a bit of love for something that's good to me. But i sooked when the old VB went so i won't get attached to cars again like that.
Pictures are good but i don't think as yet i can honestly openly say i really like it it's coming along but i think like always I'll make the final decision on it standing near it and sitting in it.
First pick of the VY i went Had to see that in the flesh first, I have only just took a real liking to the VZ Executive since i got out of the car one day and looked at one in that blue ??? (Can't think of the name) but i believe it was a new one for the VZ's, Anyway i looked at it different and thought i like the front It only took me 2 years lol

I think Holdens making that mistake a bit too much lately. Nobody seemed impressed with either the VY or VZ at launch, but after warming to them they liked it. They need their designs more instantly likeable, which the VE doesnt seem to be after this latest round of pictures.

I said that to someone on the FF.com. When the First VY pics came out they went And they said it's Holden's AU, But 4 years on the only thing stopping it is old age and fuel prices like everyone is having problems there right now.
I can't remember the launch of the VR but it was in 95 when we hired a VS i took to the design, Maybe the VT was loved straight out of the box because it still resembled the VR-VS a touch but the AU was so out there so early they just thought this looks better fits in more with the times. Everyone is scared to go to far out there like the yanks lol. Actually the AU might have been a huge success in the U.S they love bold designs.

I showed my brother this pic. And he broke it down in 3 parts.
He even goes as far to say it's hot he mates laugh but he tells them I'm a ford man but I'm a car man, If i really like something I'll say it, But then admitted he would like to see it in person just encase he hates it lol.
I need to clean my screen he has hand marks all over it blocking parts out to look at it in bits

Im pretty sure even the VT took some warming to for many people. It was arguably the biggest change the Commodore had gone through though

Those pictures where taken during a directors drive. Interesting how they got ariel shots considering that air space is resitricted. Don't think the directors would be too happy either knowing they were in the cars

Ive been quite harsh, although I havent been biased. These are my true thoughts on the car. Overall it looks like quite a solid entry, but you have to ask yourself does 1 billion $$ get you that kind of 'evolution' (not revolution, as Simcoe likes to put it). If you look at the car from a distance its a VZ.

I will stress that my current conclusions are preliminary. And BTW, those shots could not have been taken by just anyone...There are shots from angles that you would only get from a chopper
No surprises that the styling isn't revolutionary. Holden has only made evolutionary changes to the Commodore's styling ever since 1988. You can trace the Commodore DNA all the way from VN to VZ without a radical styling change in between. When it was first released, I thought the VT looked too much like the VS. Sure each model (VN-VR-VS-VT-VY-VZ) looks different, but each is also immediately recogniseable as a Commodore. Holden and most Holden buyers/fans will want the VE to be the same.
Holden won't want to alienate its buyers. Remember what it cost Ford when it went more radical with the styling with EL to AU changeover.
Personally, I think the VE looks alright - not exciting, not too disimilar from the VZ, but still overall looks quite nice.
UCP's biggest Ford Sierra RS500 and BMW M3 E30 fan. My two favourite cars of all time.
