    itb and air filter

um this maybe be a stupid question but when you are using individual throttle bodies where the hell does the air filter go ??

on nearly every example ive seen they were completely exposed, if a lil rock chip made it's way into there or just fine grains of dust or dirt even your engine would be seriously damaged ...

One filter on top of every throttle body or bolt a manifold to the bodys and attach a filter to that.

Look for a fairly large box by the engine.

here is a pic that shows how it is handled in a 300zx.

I circled the throttle bodies, they each have a hose that then meets together at a single air filter that lies inbetween the front headlights.

    ^Those aren't ITB's.

I used to have the ram pipes on the race car but then took them off. I read somewhere putting foam/ screens over them for filters eliminates any performance gains because it disrupts the air flow at the edge of the intake.. But using a K&N filter with ram pipes in side of them worked better so that is what I use now.

thats usually one big throttle body, on nearly every engine with itbs, except for bmw's which use valvetronic, the inlets are left open and throttle butterfly exposed, i cant think of where they'd fit a filter

that's one throttle per bank, i'm tlaking about systems which have 1 throttle per cylinder

thanks, this was more or less what i was thinking

another one i thought of was having an idividual filter in front of each throttle but that would be a little bit expensive and a bit of overkill if you ask me

Quite a few 7 reps use that, the filter is just a little sock
