Aston for me. It has a class and subtelty that Ferrari can't match. I respect Ferrari's engineering, but a track car for the street holds no appeal for me.
Anybody got a DB4 Mk.V or a DB5 I can have for cheap?
An it harm none, do as ye will
Approximately 79% of statistics are made up.
What do you think i would say? Lamborghini of course!
No just joking! Astons are way cooler than Ferraris. Ferraris usually come in red, which is a hot color. The color of fire. Now whereas Astons, well the DBS was launched in a color called 'Casino Ice'. That basically speaks for it self. And oh, Ferraris are fast cars. Yes. But this is why Astons are so cool. They are not fast cars. They are gentlemen's cars that you just can't help but go 20 mph and show off. In Ferraris, you drive 100000000000 mph and frive like your penis is on fire. Thats not a good image now is it?
I think the hype about the coolness of Astons originates from the latest Bond movie, and the revival of the DB5 in there.
Compare this with a contemporary Ferrari 330 GTC and I have no doubt which cars runs away with the spoils.

Aston is just another Ford...
...like the GT40 ... ya. How Boring.
Ferrari is just another Fiat.
Discuss.
Ps - F550, did you realise your username is a Ford truck? Hehe...

Old Ferrari v Old Aston, that's a really tough question. Then I'd probably choose Ferrari. A 250 GT Spider Californi SWB is hard to beat...Originally Posted by henk4

Visca Catalunya!
Whilst the 330 GTC is a beautiful car, the problem still exists that if you said to someone "I own an Aston Martin" - be it a V8 Vantage, V8 Vantage Series III, DB5 or Ulster - in general they'll probably be quite impressed.Originally Posted by henk4
If you say "I own a Ferrari", only 10 year old boys will be impressed, most other people would probably think you are a bit of a dick for "showing off", and assume you play football or won the lottery, and that you have a bright red F430 outside, even if you had just turned up in the 330 GTC.
If people saw you turn up in the 330 GTC they would probably think it was an Aston Martin or something else anyway (going by the grill shape they'd probably think it was an E-Type), because most people don't think that Ferrari made cars before the Testarossa. Especially if it isn't red.
Thanks for all the fish
Why would people who don't know me and who I don't know, ask me what car I am driving?Originally Posted by Coventrysucks

I personally think both marques have suffered the same brand issues as Burberry in recent years. There are so many new Astons and Ferraris and cars of that ilk around London now, I don't look twice. They're just not classy any more.
However, a nice Porsche 911 is back as the thinking milionaire's new sportscar of choice, if you ask me. A lot of people on a lower budget are going for the Boxster, which is a nice sportscar for a reasonable price. But if you get the 911, you've got the history, the style and the money, without screaming "look at me!!!" Now that's classy. Give me the 911 any day. Funny how it's gone full circle since the 1980s, when 911s were pretty crass.
And don't get me wrong, I love to see a '60s Dino or an Aston DB4 (my old boss had one of those - gave me a lift to work in it sometimes! ) - I'm just not getting the same feel off the latest models, gorgeous cars as they are.

Now for argument's sake, let's try an experiment with that theory. Let's replace the word 'Ferrari' with 'Aston Martin' and the 'bright red F430' part with 'DB9'.Originally Posted by Coventrysucks
Does it still make sense? Yes, certainly.
Is it plausible? Absolutely.
Astons are footballer fodder easily as much as Ferraris (although still not quite so much as Bentleys).
Precisely!

Ah but not all around the world
Other then in Britain, Coventrysusck's aruguement works very well. There a very few Astons here but many Ferraris...(in north america)
A fair point. My comments apply to London! I did notice in Miami a *lot* of Ferraris. And only one Aston. And I imagine if there's anywhere in the US you're likely to see one, it's Miami.Originally Posted by The_Canuck
Unfortunately, and as Jeremy Clarkson has pointed out on numerous ocassions, in the UK hordes of footballers, amongst others, have bought the Vantage, which means great car as it is, he wouldn't touch one with yours!
