    Any NASCAR fans?

Well, the weekend before last SUCKED, because some idiot crashed in to our Fiat 500, but this weekend just passed ROCKED, because I got VIP tickets to the last NASCAR race of the season in Miami through my new job. Some photos:

More to come when our jetlag wears off.

I'll be a NASCAR fan when they actually do what they used to, and what the name of the league promises: race REAL cars that I can ACTUALLY buy off the showroom floor. And since I doubt they'd ever have a Cleveland-powered Fusion, looks like I'd better not hold my breath...

For all you Juan Pablo Montoyta fans, he was 13th and ended up finishing 29th when he was rearended by Ryan Newman. Now, remember this was his first race.
Fortunately, Jimmie Johnson won the Nextel Cup Championship!

We're going to be working with one of the drivers, Dale Junior - that's us with him in the photo above - so we're now obliged to be fans!

But joking aside, it was great fun - the atmosphere is infectious. It's totally different to European motorsport, the rules, the crowd, everything! And getting the whole VIP treatment made it a pretty cool weekend. Though we didn't do much mingling with the real fans...

Next stop, Daytona in February. That's where the real work will start for us!

I would HATE to be in a Fiat 500 in a smash... **** that. My first car was a Fiat 500 nuove and it was nothing more than a golfkart with doors.

All these series have gone the same way - same with British Touring Cars, but it's still fun.

IMO, these series are not about the car, they're about the style of racing and the drivers. I find in these kinds of racing series, because the playing field is a lot more level, the personality of the drivers comes out much more in the racing, which is why I enjoy the Touring Cars and I can see the appeal of the NASCAR series too, though having only seen one race I can hardly call myself a fan. But suffice it to say, as a cynical European viewer of American racing, I found it a lot more exciting than I expected to! You should go and check one out!

It wasn't fun. Very low speed though. That's why I'm still alive!!!

Haha, just low speed driving is bordering on suicidal tendencies... Don't mind me while I shudder at the memories.
