    My Territory!

Oh yea! This is my '05 Ford Territory Ghia. It was my dad's company car and it was on a lease-to-own contract. And last month the contract ended so my dad bought it and instead of keeping he gave it to me. He said he'll leave the SUV driving to my mum.

So anyway hope you'll like the pics i took of it. I'm so happy. But my dad did warn me about the running costs. That i'm not so happy about....

since the freestyle isn't based off a raised falcon... no it's not similar. probably much better built too

The Freestyle IS build off the same platform as the 500/Fusion though, and story goes when Ford AUS presented the proposal to Ford NA for the Territory, FNA realised how crap the Freestyle looked and quickly changed the styling. So yes, it is the equivalent. We too have the Escape, and although being higher, its a bit shorter overall and probably has a fair bit less room inside. The Territory's got the optional 3rd row seat afterall, and although not being based on the Falcon's underpinnings, it has a longer wheelbase. The Escape on the other hand, is based on a midsized Mazda.

Back to the Territory though, they do run pretty expensively, although for a 2 tonne petrol engined car, i guess theyre not so bad. Certainly better than the petrol Patrol and Landcruiser's going around of a similar weight. If youre planning on dumping some money into it, an LPG conversion will probably look tempting. $3K will probably get you a better system than what Ford sell in the Falcon, and you should get alot of that back with the government grants.

Ive also seen a maroon one going around near here that had a bodykit, bigger wheels and was lowered. IMO, the LPG conversion's better worth the money. Any changes to the wheels and suspension will affect the stability control, although IMO i'd consider going to a bigger set of wheels (not just an upgrade to the standard 17 inch wheels, larger circumference overall). IMO, the wheels are too small for the body height, which doesnt go too well either when you lower them. They start looking abit like Subaru Forester's then.

Or you could just wait until the diesel one drops some time in the next 12-18 months.

That wouldnt be worth it though. You'd be looking at $55K at least. As i said, you could get away with $1000 out of your pocket with LPG as its a $2K subsity for aftermarket conversions.

Landcruisers weigh nearly 3 tonne. What mileage do Territories get?
