    What a day.

Today's been freakin' crazy. One of the team leaders at the dealership took a week vacation this week, so he wasn't in. Then just after we opened that team's service writer went home "sick." Where sick is a euphemism for "pissed off." So now we're 2 people short. A little after that, the one parts guy shows up late for the eleventy billionth time. John, the parts manager, has a little closed door chat with him. Then he leaves. For the last time.

Down 3 people, and it's not even 9am yet... Today's gonna be a fun one. So they call in one of the service writers who usually has off today to cover for Randy who went home. Of course he's not happy to come in on his day off. But whatever.

Now, there's been rumors going around for a few weeks that there was going to be major changes made in the service, sales and parts departments. Some of which had already taken place. The sales lot attendant, Broc, told me 3 weeks ago that the detail company we contracted out to was going to get released from their contract, and that they were going to put him in charge of detail, with 2 other guys they'd hire. I was going to get moved to parts as the delivery/pick-up driver, and someone new would take my job of shop attendant (a polite way of saying janitor).

Well, turns out he was wrong. Totally. Sales found another detail company that would supply them with a lot attendant. But what about Broc? He was going to move into my job, and I'd end up working in parts as either a driver or working retail sales.

But then sales decided to keep the company we have now. So that threw a big wrench into everyone's plans. As it's panned out, Broc will be getting my job. And I'm moving into parts working at the parts desk and in the shop taking orders for parts from the techs, ordering the parts, and delivering them to the techs upon arrival.

As for detail? Who knows. Who cares. Screw 'em. Cause I just got a $4,000 a year raise with bonuses on top of that. Down side is I'll be working a lot more hours. 9.5 a day 5 days a week, and every third Saturday.

Yay for me. And I'm having a Captain and Coke tonight in honor of a fallen comrade, Jerry. He was our token black guy. And we loved him. He will be missed. Jerry, this one is for you, buddy. *raises glass* <3

Yes, I'll have access to ETKA. Unfortunately, we're unable to look up or order part numbers not available from Europe, Canada, or South America. Which means I still can't get a set of Euro bumpers cheap.

Congrats buddy, this calls for a party.

Shame about Jerry though. Token black guys are usually pretty damn cool.

I have ETKA on my pc here at home and I have the same problem with the american parts, the frustrating thing is that i can see the parts but when i click on them it states : part number unknown. I also found an error in the program when it comes to a coolant temperature sender for my car, the part numer is there , but it isn't featured in the diagram. If you need part numbers for euro parts I can supply them but that probably won't help a darn thing

EDIt : congrats for climbing on the ladder

You two could just send parts to each other?

    Shipping's not too bad, honest...

Quiggs- sounds like a mixed blessing, your job. I've had the same thing- my pay has tripled, at the expense of some pretty hefty shifts. But hey- that's life. Use some of your raise to put down a deposit on a Mk. V GTi. No DSG.

I'm going to wait a couple years and get a lightly used one. For now the projects are:

    Coilovers/wheels installed for the Golf
Screamin' 8v engine and trans build this winter
    Find a Corrado come spring
Lysholm (G60) or turbo (VR) that; cause everyone needs a chronically broken car
    Be happy
    Buy Mk5

    plans/projects change every 5 minutes

some time ago I considered buying a raddo, then I wanted to sell some organs and stuff to get an audi tt
at the moment the plan is to restore a mk1 golf gti and insure it as an oldtimer.
the last plan is probably the most realistic one.

If you didn't have textured top bumpers I would have already offered to trade you.
