A simmilar thing but on a smaller scale happened in Quebec a few months ago, this will cause bridges everywhere to be looked at again.

It's no surprise really - stress related fractures on structures as old and well used as this bridge are really nothing new.
It's just a shame it takes a collapse to get things to happen

This is a very terrible thing to have happened, and you know there is going to be a lot a lot of lawsuits aimed at whoever is found to be guilty of the neglect or not inspecting the bridge or whatever caused it. It's scary to think that we all cross bridges nearly everyday and you don't give it a second thought that it could fall out from underneath you.
