V8 Supercar - Super Cheap Auto Racing team sold

Neil Crompton announced on the telecast from Tasmania that SCAR had been sold and that McConville and Dumbrell were out of a ride next year etc. Does anyone know who bought the team.

The Supercheap Auto Racing (SCAR) team has been sold to the No Limit Group.

Team owner, Kees Weel, concluded successful talks with No Limit Group’s CEO John Marshall today with the two reaching an agreement for the sale of the Dandenong operation.

Final contractual arrangements are now being formalised with the official takeover date scheduled for 1st June. Weel cited his expanding PWR Performance Products business as the main reason for the race team sale.

“The PWR Performance Products business is ready to take the next ‘10 year step’”, he said.

“Paul (Weel) and I have big plans for PWR Performance Products and with the new PWR state of the art facility at Yatala nearing completion the time was right for us to narrow our business focus.

"We have spent a lot of money restructuring the race team operation this year and I’m confident John (Marshall) shares the vision to take the Supercheap Auto Racing team back to the front of the field.”

No Limit CEO John Marshall agreed: “This acquisition signals an exciting new era with our involvement in V8 Supercars and our commitment to pursue excellence. With No Limit’s purchasing of the Supercheap Auto Racing Team we are looking forward to tackling this very competitive sport in the most professional manner.”

No Limit Group is no stranger to motor racing or indeed to the Supercheap Auto Racing Team. Last season the No Limit Group significantly backed the team. In addition, the company teamed
up with the World of HSV in a national $145,000 prize giveaway, with one person walking away with $100,000 cash and another winning a Holden Barina.

No Limit Marketing Manager, Calvin Coffey said: “We are now very firmly committed to V8 Supercars with this latest acquisition. Our company has a real passion for motor sport. Along with naming rights partner Supercheap Auto and our sponsorship partners, we will be using our team to increase brand awareness nationally.”

No Limit Group was established in South East Queensland in 1992 and is a property and financial services company headed by successful businessman and entrepreneur John Marshall. With a strong innovative approach towards property development and finance, the company is now a national entity with a number of major, well-established projects and significant development plans along the east coast.

No Limit Racing will be headed up by former HRT Chief, Jeff Grech who joined the Supercheap Auto Racing team at the beginning of this year. The team’s current focus is on Round 4 of the V8 Supercar Championship at Winton Raceway in country Victoria this weekend.
